Sunday happenings in Burke

Coming up this Sunday, a Burke chalk walk will take place at the Burke Civic Center. Registration will begin at 4:45 and the walk will be held at 5. Also in Burke for Sunday will be shooting sports and shot gun training from 4:30-7pm at the Civic Center. For more information call the Extension Office at 775-2581.

Fishing for a Cure Tournament coming up in July

The 2nd annual Fishing for a Cure Ladies Fishing Tournament will be held July 7th in Chamberlain. All funds raised will stay local and can be used for assistance to defray the cost of gas, food, lodging or bill payments of any kind. If you would like to make a monetary donation or you want to donate items for the raffle and auction you can call Kelli at 730-1967, Brenda at 680-4494 or Holly at 730-4200.

HOSTA coming to Winner

Winner will be hosting a HOSTA (hazardous occupations safety training for agriculture) on May 24th and 25th at the Tripp County 4-H Center. HOSTA is designed for youth ages 14 or 15 who are working on farms and ranches. Ages 12-18 can attend. 50th annual Jamboree set for next week in Springview!

The 50th annual Country Music and Fiddlers Jamboree will be held on Friday, May 25th starting at 7pm in the Elementary Multi-Purpose Room in Springview, Nebraska! Admission by donation with the proceeds going to benefit the Keya Paha County Historical Society. Other events in conjunction with the Jamboree are: May 23rd at Frank Day’s in Dallas at 8pm. May 24th at the Cattleman’s Lounge in Springview at 8pm. May 25th, Jam Session on the museum lawn at 1pm in Springview. May 26th, at the Carlock Ballroom in Carlock at 8pm and May 27th at the Wewela Hall at 2pm.

Upcoming blood drives in the area

A blood drive will be held in Presho this Wednesday, May 16th from 1-6pm at the Methodist Church. To make an appointment call Catherine at 895-2409. On Monday, May 21st and Tuesday, May 22nd, a blood drive will take place at the Winner City Office. On Monday, the drive will run from 11am-5:30 and it will go from 7-11am on Tuesday. North Star ABATE to host ride June 2nd

North Star ABATE will be having a ride for the Brooks Hurley Memorial on Saturday, June 2nd. The group will be leaving from the Pheasant Bar in Winner at 1pm and will make stops in Dallas, Gregory and Dock 44. The ride tour will end at the North Star followed by a potluck with a free will offering and everyone is welcome to attend.
