There will be a benefit Mountain Oyster feed and fish fry on Saturday, March 10th from 5-7pm with an auction to follow at Mary Bob’s in Gregory for Tim Mills and Marsha Peck, who are both fighting cancer. There will be a free will offering at the door. If you would like to donate for the auction you can drop off items at Cenex in Gregory or call Randy at 830-2559.

Blood drives coming up in White River and Murdo
A blood drive will be held on Monday, March 19th in Murdo from 1:30-5pm at the Jones County High School. To make an appointment call Katie at 669-2258. On Tuesday, March 20th, a blood drive will take place at the White River Community Events Center from 8am-12:45pm. To make an appointment call Tracy Tucker at 259-3137.
BASS Nation Championships underway today
The BASS Nation Championship is underway in Louisiana, featuring a few of our area fishermen- Shane Stiehl, Eric Storms and Bryce Hauf are just some of the local guys from the KWYR listening area who are competing in the tournament that runs through Friday. 19 states have fishermen that are competing in the big BASS Championship.
Blake Hoffman benefit to happen March 24th
There will be a benefit supper and pie auction for Blake Hoffman on Saturday, March 24th beginning at 6pm at the Colome American Legion. The pie auction will start at 7. Modern Woodman of America will be matching the funds. Blake was injured in a farm accident in January and is on a long road to recovery so please make plans to attend the event.
Benefit to be held Saturday at the Tripp County 4-H Center
A Brooks Hurley benefit supper and auction will be held on Saturday, March 10th beginning at 5pm at the Tripp County 4-H Center. Sloppy Joes, chips and salad will be served. If you wish to donate a salad please drop it off at the 4-H Center after 2pm on the 10th. Auction items can be arranged by calling Carrie at 840-4262. Proceeds will go to help pay for funeral and memorial expenses.
Gregory reminders for the next week
Coming up this Sunday, March 11th, the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gregory will hold their spring dinner from 11am to 1pm at Mary Vale Hall. They will be serving ham and roast beef. On Tuesday, March 13th, The Gregory High School Music Department will present “dinner and a show” at the Gregory Auditorium with dinner being served at 6:30 and the show will start at 7pm.
Fundraiser for Christa Peterson to happen March 31st
There will be a fundraiser for Christa Peterson, a teacher in the Platte/Geddes School District. Christa was injured in a fall in January. There will be a meal on Saturday, March 31st at the Platte/Geddes School over lunch time. This will be a free will offering event with proceeds to go toward Christa’s recovery and show the community’s support towards Christa and her family.
USD Chamber singers to perform in Chamberlain
Don’t forget that the University of South Dakota Chamber singers will have a concert on Tuesday, March 6th starting at 7pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chamberlain! Persons interested in housing some of the students can call Jeff at 605-730-0553 or Jesse at 234-4467.

Winner Regional Visitation reminder
Winner Regional Healthcare Center is asking for assistance of the public and patient families in helping stop the spread of influenza. Due to the increase in influenza cases in the community, visitation is discouraged at Winner Regional Healthcare Center, including the hospital and long term care center. This step is meant to protect the health of patients and residents.
