A couple of reminders for the week

The Mid Missouri River Prescribed Burn Association will celebrate its one year anniversary this week! There will be an annual meeting at the Community Room in Bonesteel on Friday starting at 5pm. Coming up on Saturday, the Colome Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual chicken dinner fundraiser beginning at 5:30 at the Colome American Legion. Modern Woodman will be offering some matching funds. Come out and please support the fire department this weekend!

Dinner Theatre coming up in Dallas

Keep in mind that a Dinner Theatre will take place on Friday, March 3rd at the Dallas American Legion starting at 7pm. Only two hundred seats will be available and tickets are on sale at First Fidelity Bank in Gregory, Frank Days and at Bankwest in Gregory. Your ticket purchase will include a full meal and entertainment. This is a fundraiser for the digital projector at the Hilltop Drive Inn.

A few weekend reminders

Here are some of the many things that will be taking place in our area this weekend: Winner Girl Scouts will have a cookie booth at Shopko on Saturday from 1-5. If you would like cookies delivered to your home please call or text 840-2466. The Dakota Heartland Chapter Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Big Game Banquet is set to happen Saturday night at the Tripp County 4-H Center! Doors will open at 5. Showing this weekend at the Hipp Theatre in Gregory is the movie “Hidden Figures”. Show times Friday through Sunday will be at 7:30pm.

Sales Tax Seminars coming up March 16th in Winner

A couple of sales tax seminars will take place on Thursday, March 16th at the Holiday Inn Express Conference Room in Winner. A sales tax meeting will take place from 9am to noon and will cover topics such as how and when to apply for a tax license, exemptions from sales and use taxes, use tax, municipal taxes among a variety of other topics. There will be a seminar from 1 to 4 that day that will focus on contractor’s excise tax. The workshop will covers topics such as how and when to apply for a contractors’ excise tax license, projects for qualifying utilities and governmental agencies, sales and use tax among other topics. 2nd annual Paint and Pour coming up March 4th

ESA Beta Alpha’s 2nd annual Paint and Pour to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be held on Saturday, March 4th starting at 1pm at the Winner American Legion. There will be a penny raffle to benefit the Wesson Littau Foundation. Registration forms can be picked up at the Legion, This N’ That, from Rachel at the Winner City Office or online at sodakesa.org. Couple of reminders for Thursday

We wanted to remind you about a couple of things that will be taking place today. South Central Livestock Supply in Gregory will be hosting a grand opening today from 3 to 7pm. Come out and meet the staff and visit with reps! They will also be offering some outstanding specials too. The Niobrara Council will be holding a regular public meeting today at the Peppermill in Valentine beginning at 1:30.

Scholarship applications available now!

The 2017-2018 American Indian Education Fund Scholarship applications for undergraduate and graduate students are now available online. Go to aiefprogram.org for more information. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 4th, but if they are received before March 1st an extra point will be awarded towards your score!

Teach SD Class coming up Friday

Do some of you have technology questions or maybe an interest in learning how to use your smart phone, computer, tablet, Facebook or apps? You can register for a free one hour Teach South Dakota Class that is scheduled for every Friday afternoon from 1-2pm at Grossenburg Implement in Winner! Blood drives in Colome and Burke this week

Keep in mind that we have a couple of blood drives taking place in our area this week. A blood drive will take place at the Colome American Legion this afternoon from 1:30-5pm. To make an appointment please call 1-800-996-3688. Another community blood drive will take place on Wednesday, February 15th in Burke from 11:45am to 5:15pm at the Burke Civic Center.
