Final state track and field results

The 2017 South Dakota High School State Track and Field Meet is in the books! In the team standings, the Sioux Falls Christian boys won the class ‘a’ title with 112 points. Winner was fourth with 40 points and Chamberlain came in fifth with 37. In the boys class ‘b’ team standings, Chester Area was the first place finisher with 64 points. Colome earned 36 points for fifth. The girls class ‘a’ team title was won by Madison with 64 points. Deubrook Area won the girls class ‘b’ team title with 78 points. Individually, In the boys discus, Chamberlain’s Nash Hutmacher finished fourth overall while Winner’s Jayden Schroeder came in ninth. In the boys long jump, Kelly O’Bryan was victorious as he claimed his second state championship with a leap of 21-03.75. Gregory’s Jayd VanDerWerff was fifth and Hayden Stluka of Platte/Geddes came in eighth. In the boys 4×400 relay, Chamberlain finished sixth. Winner’s Cameron Kuil won both the 200 and 400 meter dashes! Cam ran the 200 in 22.26 seconds and he ran the 400 in 48.52 seconds. Kuil was runner up in the 100 meter dash by running a 11.08. In the girls 200 meter dash, Todd County’s Caelyn Valandra-Prue was runner up with a time of 26.52 seconds. Caelyn did however claim victory in the 400 meter dash by running a new meet record time of 56.52 seconds! Winner’s Sam Schuyler finished eighth. Valandra-Prue  finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.73 seconds. In the boys 1600 sprint medley, Gregory finished fifth. In the girls ‘b’ 1600 sprint medley, Platte/Geddes came in fourth while Kimball/White Lake was eighth. The girls 400 meter dash was won by Parker’s Karley Peters. Ally Holter of Platte/Geddes placed eighth. In the boys ‘a’ 4×100 meter relay, Winner finished eighth. In the girls class ‘b’ 4×100 meter relay, Platte/Geddes was runner up while Colome came in sixth. Gregory’s Aaron Voight finished third in the 1600 meter run while Kray Person of Burke/South Central was fourth. In the girls 1600 meter run, Chamberlain’s Ella Byers was fifth overall. In the boys 4×200 meter relay, Winner was third. In the girls ‘b’ 100 meter dash, Colome’s Callie Heath placed eighth.
