Yesterday, began the Legion State Class “B” Baseball Tournamnet.
In the first game of the tournament Redfield Area played Tabor and beat them 2-0 after the only two runs came in the first inning.
In the second game Winner/ Colome squared off against Beresford and beat them 7-4. Beresford made an effort in the 7th inning being down 7-0 scoring 4 runs but couldn’t complete the come back.
Humboldt beat Big Stone in game three of the tournament by a score of 7-3.
Finally, the host team Lennox beat Dell Rapids 5-4.
Every team is back in action as it is a double elimination tournament. Here is todays schedule.
Tabor will face off against Big Stone in the first game at 10:30 AM
Beresford and Dell Rapids will play 30 minutes after the conclusion of Tabor and Big Stone.
Both those games are elimination games.
In the winners bracket
Redfield will play Humboldt at 5:00 PM.
Then Winner/ Colome and Lennox will conclude the games today 30 minutes after Redfield and Humboldt.
Preview of Winner/ Colome:
After Winner/ Colome defeated Beresford in their first game they moved on to the winner’s bracket. Jackson Kinzer pitched well for Winner/ Colome to help propel them to victory and didn’t throw too many pitches to allow him to pitch in the championship game if need be. The bats were working well for Winner/ Colome early and they are going to need to bring them against the home team here tonight as they face Lennox. Lennox won their first game by defeating Dell Rapids 5-4 in extra innnings. Lennox has some good pitching depth, but Winner/Colome has been hitting the ball well since their region tournament. Should be a close game and one that features plenty of action
