Local City and School Board Elections to Take Place Tomorrow

There are several local city and school board elections tomorrow in our coverage area with polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

For the City of Colome, running for mayor are incumbent Brad Hill and David Witt.  Tara Beckers and Casey Harter are running for a city council position for Ward 2. Kelly Leighton, Kelly Dougherty, and Victor Senter are running for a city council position for Ward 3.  The polling location will be at the Colome Fire Hall.

For the City of Winner, Roger Farley and Joe Hockett are running for a city council position for Ward 2.  Ron Sprenkle is the only person that took out a petition and will become the new councilman for Ward 1 as Justin Schuyler is not seeking re-election. Austin Klundt will remain councilman for Ward 3.

For the Winner School Board, Julie Manke (incumbent), Scott Meiners (incumbent), Jon Barfuss, Corey Audiss, and Lynnelle Anderson are running for three open positions on the board. The Polling location for the Winner City and school elections will be at the Winner city council chambers.

For the City of Gregory, Al Cerny is running unopposed for Mayor and will become Mayor as incumbent Scott Anshutz is not seeking re-election. Another new addition to the council will be Guhner Kepler who is running unopposed for Ward 1 and will have a one-year term.

Running for Ward 2 will be the late Seymour Studenberg, Darwin Grim, and Butch Rolf. Due to Mr. Studenberg’s passing being after Feb 25th, he remains on the ballot, and if he is to win it would result in a vacancy of the seat and new mayor Al Cerny would then be able to appoint whomever he chooses. The polling location will be at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium.

For the Platte-Geddes School Board, Tom Olsen, Dennis DeBoer (incumbent), Roxi Summerville (incumbent) , and Heather VanDerWerff (incumbent) are running for three open positions.  All terms are 3 years.

The Platte-Geddes School District Election will be held at the Community Building in Platte and at the American Legion Building in Geddes.
