The following are results from day one of the State Track and Field Meets that were held Friday. Colome’s Kelly O’Bryan won the Class ‘B’ triple jump as he had a leap of 43-11.25! Burke/South Central’s Kray Person finished second in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:07:10. Gregory’s Aaron Voight was fifth with a time of 10:28:10. Caden Tegethoff of Platte/Geddes finished eighth with a time of 10:34:45. Jones County’s Austin Olson was ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:07:10. Chamberlain’s Tiegen Priebe was the state champion in the Class ‘A’ long jump as he had a leap of 22 feet and 7 inches! Winner’s Brady Fritz had a jump of 20 feet and 11 inches to finish ninth. Priebe was runner up in the triple jump with a leap of 45-04. Fritz was tenth as he finished with a 41-05. The Todd County boys 4×800 meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 8:42:05. Chamberlain’s Nash Hutmacher finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 51-02.75. Jayden Schroeder of Winner was eighth as he had a throw of 48-03.25. In the girls long jump, Chamberlain’s Avany Long was tenth as she had a leap of 16-02.50. Chamberlain’s Mady Handel came in eighth place in the shot put as she had a throw of 36-05. Lahna Matucha of Burke/South Central finished in a ninth place tie in the girls high jump as she had a jump of 4-10. The boys class ‘B’ high jump was won by Jayshawn Milton of Lower Brule. Malachi Girton of Platte/Geddes finished in fifth place. Mae Duba of Platte/Geddes came in fifth in the girls pole vault. Caelyn-Valandra/Prue of Todd County had the fastest time in the class ‘a’ 400 meter run on Friday as she gets ready for todays finals. Sam Schuyler of Winner will be in the 400 too. In the girls ‘b’ 400, Ally Holter of Platte/Geddes has the fourth fastest time going into Saturday’s Finals. Karley Peters of Parker, who is the daughter of Dale and Jacey Peters, has the fastest time. In the boys ‘A’ 400 meter run, Cameron Kuil of Winner has the fastest time going into the finals Saturday and Tiegen Priebe of Chamberlain has the second fastest time. The Winner boys 4×100 and 4×200 relays both qualified for today’s finals. The Colome and Platte/Geddes girls 4×100 teams qualified for the finals. The Winner girls 4×800 relay team placed sixth. Matt Campbell of Colome finished second in the discus. Cameron Kuil has qualified for the 100 and 200 finals. Kayleb Brozik of Winner placed fifth in the 800 meter run. Ella Byers was third in the 800 and Sam Schuyler was ninth in the 800 run. Valandra-Prue of Todd County had the second fastest time going into the finals. Winner’s Sidda Schuyler was sixth in the 3200 meter run. Ella Byers of Chamberlain placed eighth. Matt Campbell was second in the shot put and Hallie Hallock of Platte/Geddes was fourth in the shot put and she came in eighth in the discus.
