New District Ranger Coming to the Fall River Ranger District

Julie Wheeler has been selected to serve as the new Fall River District Ranger, beginning July 5, 2020.

Wheeler started her career on the Nebraska National Forests & Grasslands (NNFG) on the Pine Ridge Ranger District as a seasonal, while attending Chadron State College.  Her professional career began as a rangeland management specialist on the NNFG’s Fort Pierre National Grassland in 1999.  In 2003 she moved to the Bearlodge Ranger District on the Black Hills National Forest located in Sundance, WY.  She is currently a zoned rangeland management specialist on the Bearlodge and Northern Hills Ranger Districts.

Wheeler said, “My husband Scott is currently the AFMO on the Hell Canyon RD in Custer.  We have two daughters, one a college freshman and one a freshman in high school.  I’m very excited to be returning to the Nebraska National Forest and Grasslands and back to my grassland roots.”

Wheeler is coming in as the new Fall River Ranger District, following Mike McNeill who retired in December 2019.
