Hanson’s Reggie Slaba and Avery Broughton of Corsica/Stickney were name the Mitchell Daily Republic’s Players of the Year in High School Basketball. Winner’s Brady Fritz did receive a first place vote while Kelby VanDerWerff of Platte/Geddes received consideration for the award along with Jaden Frank of Burke. Corsica/Stickney’s Avery Broughton won the award in her freshman season and has already surpassed 1,000 career points. Winner’s Bella Swedlund received a first place vote and earned 17 points. Kimball/White Lake’s Kennedy Leiferman received 11 points for the award.
