Warriors, Kernels win state titles in convincing fashion Friday

Two state championship football games took place yesterday at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion. The Winner Warriors finished their season the way they began it,  in dominant fashion! Winner took down the Groton Area Tigers, 54-0 to become back-to- back state champions in Class 11B. Drew DeMers was the Joe Robbie MVP as he was a perfect 5 for 5 through the air with four touchdowns. The Winner defense was suffocating once again as they only allowed the Groton offense to gain 41 yards the entire game.  Last night, the Class 11AA Championship went to the Mitchell Kernels as they took care of Harrisburg, 41-6. Running Back Spencer Neugebauer had yet another spectacular game as he scored three times, ran for 236 yards and was named the game’s Joe Robbie MVP. A big shoutout this week goes to all three of our area Highway 18 teams- the Colome Cowboys, Gregory Gorillas and Winner Warriors for going three for three at state!
