Rosebud Electric will be having a planned power outage on Thursday, May 8th starting at 10:00 am, and will last around 2 hours. This outage will affect the north half of the town of Witten and the townships of Witten, Greenwood, Curlew, Pahapesto, Lonetree, Progessive and the Northwest portion of Carter town ship including the town of Carter itself. On Tuesday, May 13th, the Winner Legion Auxiliary will be putting poppies on all the crosses that will be put on veterans’ graves. The poppies will be done at 1pm at the Avenue of Flags building, which is 2 blocks north of First Fidelity Bank. Please come and help if you are able.
MLB Sunday, the Twins defeated the Red Sox, 5-4 to take 2 of 3 in the series in Boston. Byron Buxton homered in the victory while Ryan Jeffers drove in a couple of runs for Minnesota, who will now begin a series on Tuesday at home against Baltimore.

The Platte Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual fishing tournament on Saturday at Platte Creek Recreation Area. The team of Reggie, Ross and Jack Ringling were the winning team. It was the 29th year that the Chamber held the tournament.
The Howard Wood Relays came to a close Saturday in Sioux Falls. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:
Girls Discus- Burke’s Paige Bull placed third
Bennett County’s Peyson O’Neill won the girls 300 hurdles in 43.36.
Gregory was runner up in the boys Class B sprint medley relay. Jones County was third, Kimball/White Lake was fifth.
Winner was fourth in the boys Class A sprint medley relay
The Winner girls placed fourth in the class A 4 X 1 relay
Winner’s Shawn Hammerbeck placed sixth in the boys discus
In the boys class B 4X 1 Relay, Gregory was 8th.
