Many girls basketball conferences revealed “all-conference” teams on Monday:

Chamberlain’s Natalie Nelson made all-conference. Her teammate, Kali Randall, made honorable mention all-conference. Winner’s Kylie Sachtjen and Payton Sargent made all conference. Mellette County Fatal Crash

What:    Single vehicle fatal crash
Where:  Ring Thunder Road, 13 miles southeast of White River, SD
When:   3:51 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026

Occupant 1: 
Female, from Mission, SD, fatal injuries

Mellette County, S.D. – A Mission, SD woman died and three others were seriously injured Sunday in a single-vehicle crash 13 miles southeast of White River, SD.

The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling eastbound on Ring Thunder Road. The driver failed to negotiate a curve and went into a yaw. The vehicle tripped and rolled, coming to rest in the north ditch. All four occupants were ejected. Three occupants sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The fourth was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

In the Women’s Summit League Basketball Tournament Championship Game on Sunday in Sioux Falls at the Premier Center, South Dakota State defeated North Dakota State, 64-51. It’s the fourth consecutive Summit League Tournament Championship for the Lady Jackrabbits.

In the Men’s Summit League Tournament Championship Game on Sunday night, North Dakota State defeated North Dakota, 70-62.

The Men’s Big Ten Conference Basketball Tournament will begin on Tuesday in Chicago. Nebraska is the number two overall seed, and won’t play until Friday evening at 5:30 against an opponent that will be determined on Thursday. Nebraska on Sunday won in overtime over Iowa, 84-75.

The Black Hills State Men’s Basketball team is the number six seed in the Division II Tournament. BH will take on three seeded, Lubbock Christian, on Saturday in Dallas, Texas. Tip-off time is to be determined. Black Hills State won the RMAC Tournament Championship on Saturday over Colorado Mesa, 89-77. Blake Volmer, formerly of Winner, had two rebounds in the victory.
