There were several fires in South Dakota and Nebraska last night, and into the overnight, including two large grass fires. One of those fires was northeast of Reliance, and the other east of Alexandria. The Reliance, Chamberlain, Lyman, Kennebec and Presho Fire Departments were paged out last night to the fire northeast of Reliance. There were also wildfires reported in Bon Homme County. Last evening, there were also severe thunderstorms for Stanley and Jones Counties. Multiple fires also broke out across Nebraska. A wildfire was reported burning across parts of Grant, Hooker and Cherry Counties, that saw an evacuation order for Whitman and the surrounding area. Multiple fire departments also responded, and were on the scene at two grassfires in northeast Nebraska. One fire was reported in Hubbard, that began shortly after 4pm. Authorities shut down Highway 11, south of Atkinson. A fire was located eight miles south of Atkinson on Wednesday evening. Gregory won the boys 4 x 2 relay in 1:32:89. Gregory won the boys sprint medley relay in 3:47:67. Dani VanDerWerff of Gregory won the girls javelin with a throw of 118-08. At the Charger Invite in Onida, Lyman’s Brooke Montgomery won the girls 100 in a time of 12:29. Montgomery also won the girls 200 in a time of 25:64. White River’s Hayden Hand won the boys 400 in a time of 53:54. BreAna Aske of Jones County won the girls 400 in 59:91. Dawsen Volmer of Lyman won the boys high jump with a jump of 6 feet. White River’s Page Wright won the girls high jump with a jump of 4’11. BreAna Aske of Jones County wo nthe girls long jump with a leap of 16’9.Ipswich won the boys and girls team titles. Fireman’s Dance coming up Saturday at the Winner Armory
The Winner Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual Fireman’s Dance on Saturday, April 25th at the Winner Armory. Doors will open at 8pm, and the dance will begin at 9pm. Weston Frank will provide the music. You must be 21 to attend. Rides will be available to and from the dance within Winner City limits.

At the Big Dakota Invite Monday at the Winner Country Club, Chamberlain’s Trey Speer was the medalist as she carded an 84. Winner Area’s Gracie Root was runner up with an 88. Natalie Nelson of Chamberlain was third with a 98. Payton Sargent of Winner Area was fourth with a 101, while Reese Halligan of Winner Area was fifth with a 105. Winner Area won the team title by two strokes over Chamberlian, 402 to 404.
