The Winner Catholic Church Fall Festival will be held on Sunday, October 11th from 4:30-6:30pm at St. Mary’s Hall. They will be serving a full turkey dinner. At the Platte/Geddes Invite, Luke Mentele of Mitchell Christian won the boys race in 17:18:3. Elijah Haukaas of White River place third, while Walter Graesser of Platte/Geddes was fourth. Berklee Mills of Platte/Geddes won the girls race in a time of 20:57:2. Ella Holter of Platte/Geddes placed fifth while Clara Steffen of Burke was tenth.

At the Pentagon Tournament in Sioux Falls, Winner went 1-3 on the day. Winner fell to Rapid City Christian, Dell Rapids St. Mary’s and Wagner each in two sets. Winner was able to get a two set victory over Hill City.

Springview to hold dinner and auction next weekend
The Springview Methodist Church will host their annual Harvest Home Dinner and Auction at the Springview High School on Sunday, October 4th. The dinner will be from 12:30-2:30, with the auction to follow. The dinner will feature turkey and dressing, roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, home-made salads, pies and desserts with a free-will offering, all created by some of the best cooks in the county. The auction will start at 2:30 and will feature a wide variety of home-made items from church members.

Carter Craven of Winner was fourth with an 84, while Cooper Craven of Winner was fifth with an 85. Chamberlain won the team title by 10 strokes over Winner, while Todd County was third.

Homecoming Coronation held Thursday in Winner and Platte
Homecoming Coronation was held Thursday night in Winner and in Platte. At the Winner Armory, Carter Craven was named Homecoming Warrior, and Alice Wilson was named Homecoming Princess. Sandra York was named the Homecoming Parade Marshal. In Platte, Asher Kott was named Homecoming King, while Claire Maydew was named Homecoming Queen.
