Winner School District to hold orientation

Winner Schools will be having  high school orientation and computer checkout for students entering grades 9-12. It will be held at the armory at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 8th. Each student must have a parent/guardian accompany them to complete the required paperwork. Following this meeting students will turn in the required paperwork and be allowed to pick up their computer to take home. Each student will need to verify insurance coverage or purchase the school insurance coverage for $50 prior to taking their computer home. Students who are unable to attend the orientation may attend an alternate orientation on Wednesday, August 16th at 9:00 AM In room 100 of the HS.

The middle school orientation for students entering grades 6-8 will be held at the armory at 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 10th.

Students will receive their schedules and other information during these orientation meetings. After the orientation meeting in the armory students and parents will be able to visit their classrooms and check out their lockers.

The Winner Elementary school will host their meet the teacher night on Tuesday, August 15thfrom

5:30-7:00 PM at the Winner Elementary School.

Burke Area Farmers Market returns Thursday

Be sure to swing by the Burke City Park this Thursday, August 3rd for the Burke Area Farmers Market from 5:30-7pm! You’ll have the chance to purchase some terrific produce along with baked goods and handcrafted items too. Kickin Concessions  will have their food truck setup at the event too. It will be a Dog Days edition for this week’s market!

State B Amateur Baseball Tournament gets underway tomorrow

The 2023 State B Amateur Baseball Tournament will underway tomorrow at Cadwell Park in Mitchell! Locally, Thursday at 5:30pm, the Winner/Colome Pheasants will battle Plankinton. Friday at 11am, Platte will play Lesterville. Saturday night at 7:30pm, Kimball/White Lake will play Elk Point. The championship game for the tournament will take place on Sunday, August 13th.

Mid Dakota Fair gets underway tomorrow

The Mid Dakota Fair will get underway tomorrow in Winner. From 5-7:30pm, will be the entering of the open class exhibits. Starting at 5pm will be the 4-H display exhibit judge orientation. From 5-7pm will be the consumer decision making contest. From 5-7 will be when the silent auction items get dropped off. From 5:15 to 7:30 will be the entering and interviewing of 4-H display exhibits.

John Hloucha and David Hamiel won the Dakota Milestones Tournament in Chamberlain by shooting a 62

Spence Spencer, Bud Noffsinger, Jeff Noffsinger and  Max Noffsinger won the Burke Pink Ladies Tournament as they shot a 56.
