Nominate a cowboy in Nebraska!

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Nebraska Sand Hills Cowboy Hall of Fame. The Sand Hills Cowboy Hall of Game honors the men and women who have made lasting contributions to the Sand Hills and our cowboy way of life. Nominations are due by December 31st, 2017. They can be sent to PO Box 127, Ainsworth, NE, 69210 or go to sandhillscowboy.com.

FCS Playoffs get underway this weekend

The FCS Playoffs will get underway this weekend! The USD Coyotes will head to Thibodaux, Louisiana to play Nicholls State. Kickoff Saturday will be at 3pm central. The winner of the contest will advance to play on December 2nd at Sam Houston State. On the other side of the bracket, the South Dakota State Jackrabbits have earned a first round bye. They will host the winner of the Monmouth-Northern Iowa game on Saturday, December 2nd at 2pm at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings.

Parade of Trees coming up on the 27th

The Keya Paha County Courthouse will be hosting their annual Parade of Trees for the holiday season! Trees can go on display the Monday after Thanksgiving on November 27th. If you would like more information on the parade of trees you can call Sandi at the Keya Paha County Treasurers Office at 402-497-3891.

Breakfast with Santa set for Saturday in Winner

The second annual breakfast with Santa will be held this Saturday, November 25th from 10am-noon at  the Winner Senior Center. Stop by and enjoy sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, donuts, coffee and juice! It is all for a free will offering and there will be a silent auction too. Funds will help support the Winner Resource Center for Families Programs.

VanDerWerff to play football at SDSU!

Gregory Senior Jayd VanDerWerff announced on Monday that he will be taking his football talents to Brookings next fall and play for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits! Jayd won three state championships as a Gorilla and finished his senior season with fifteen touchdowns from the receiving position while scoring three times on the ground. We wish you the best of luck at the next level Jayd!

Sports Zone and Husker Huddle idle this week

Due to the holiday, the Sports Zone and Husker Huddle programs with Chris Doski will not be airing on Thursday. The programs will return on Thursday, November 30th. The Husker Huddle program will be the season finale since Nebraska closes out their regular season this Friday at home against Iowa. Husker Huddle will air at around 3:45 on Country 1260 and at around 7:10pm on Magic 93. The Sports Zone will air at around 1:45 on the 30th on Magic 93 as Chris and Casey Hutmacher of Oacoma will break down each NFL game for the week and then give away a Bud Light prize package at the end of the show.

Benefit for Brad Roghair to happen Saturday

A benefit for the Brad Roghair family will take place this Saturday, November 25th at the Murdo Auditorium. A dinner will be served at 5:30 followed by an auction. There will be cake walks along with a raffle and great entertainment provided by Molly Dowling. You can checkout their facebook page for updates and details on the auction items for this weekend. Brad had a horse accident in August and donations are greatly appreciated.

Coaches Corner to return December 2nd

Chris Doski will be back with ‘Coaches Corner’ on Saturday, December 2nd to get you ready for the winter sports season! Chris will visit with numerous coaches from across the area to talk high school wrestling along with boys and girls basketball. Sportsmax will air in place of Coaches Corner for this Saturday, November 25th from 9-10am. Coaches Corner will air on Saturday’s throughout the winter sports season beginning at 9am.
