Schuyler named Area 3A Coach of the Year!

Congratulations to Winner Area Cross Country Coach Jayd Schuyler as he has been named the Area 3A Coach of the Year by the South Dakota Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association! Schuyler’s Winner Area girls team finished fifth at the state cross country meet last month to cap off a tremendous season for Winner Area Cross Country.

The Sports Zone returns on Thursday!

Chris Doski and Casey Hutmacher of Oacoma will team up for another edition of the ‘Sports Zone’ this Thursday on 93.7FM! The guys will break down each NFL game for the week and make their picks before they give away a Bud Light party package to one lucky caller at the end of the show. The program will air at 1:45 on Magic 93!

Vikings Visit returns tomorrow

Chris Doski will be back with another edition of ‘Vikings Visit’ tomorrow afternoon on Country 1260 and Tuesday night on Magic 93. Chris and a local Minnesota Vikings fan will recap Sunday’s game against Washington and look ahead to the remainder of the regular season. Christmas Kettle campaign to get underway soon

The Salvation Army in Winner will kick off their traditional Christmas Kettle campaign on November 24th and it will run through December 24th Monday through Saturday’s from 10am to 8pm at Shopko in Winner. If you or your organization would like to volunteer as bell ringers you can contact Shana at 842-2736 to schedule a group a times.

Southern Plains donation program

Southern Plains Behavioral Health Services will be conducting their annual donation program with this year’s program titled “Feeling Thankful”. The program reminds everyone to be thankful for what you have and give to those in need. Monetary donations, toys, food, personal care items and clothing items can be dropped off at the Winner office or sent to 500 east 9th street in Winner.

State Volleyball gets underway Thursday

State Volleyball will get underway Thursday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City. Locally, Burke/South Central is the number six seed in the Class ‘B’ Tournament and they will play three seeded Warner at 7pm central. Burke/South Central was able to advance to state after they came from behind last week to beat Arlington at the Corn Palace in their sweet sixteen game.

Veterans Day programs to happen this weekend

There will be many Veterans Day programs that will be held across the area this weekend. Here are a few that will be taking place: An annual Veterans Day program will happen today at 2pm at the Burke School Gym. Valentine Middle School invites the public to attend their Veterans Day program at 2pm today at the Middle School. The A’Cafellas Barbershop Chorus will present a “Salute to Veterans” on Saturday at 3pm at the Dixon Town Hall in Gregory and then at 7:30 Saturday night at the Winner Community Playhouse. The second annual Voices of Veterans Program will be held on Saturday at 6:30 at the Dallas Legion Hall. A Veterans Day Program will be held at the Gregory Auditorium on Monday, November 13th at 10am at the Gregory Auditorium.
