Grass fire updates
Yesterday afternoon, there were two grass fires that broke out at approximately 3pm. The Winner, Mission and Witten Fire Departments responded to the fire south of Millboro. The Colome, Mission, Gregory, Burke and Springview Fire Departments responded to the Rahn Lake road fire, south of Colome and North of Wewela. Rosebud Electric had to cut the power to an area near Rahn Lake Road for a period of time. The power was restored south of Colome at approximately 6:30pm. As of this morning, both fires are under control. Thanks to the Firemen of all of these local fire departments for answering the call both yesterday and always.
Power Outages due to the Fire Near Rahn Lake Road
Local Fire Departments continue to fight the Fire North of Wewela and North and South of Rahn Lake Road. The Colome Fire Department, Gregory Fire Department, Burke Fire Department and Springview Fire Department continue to fight this fire. According to Rosebud Electric, the Outage is on the Rahn Lake Road and to the North. The fire jumped the Rahn Lake Road after 5pm this evening and is heading North.
2 Grass fires in Central South Dakota
This afternoon after 3pm, area fire departments were called to two separate grass fires. Winner Fire Department responded to a grass fire south of Winner. Colome Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Wewela. The Witten Fire Department was called to assist the Winner Fire Department.
According to Rosebud Electric Cooperative’s Facebook page, Rosebud Electric will be turning off the electricity south of Colome around the Rahn Lake Road due to the fire.
