Homecoming Friday in Colome, Kimball and Winner

Colome, Kimball and Winner seniors will end their homecoming celebrations tonight as three big football games will be happening: Winner hosts Chamberlain, Kimball/White Lake will host Ipswich and Colome will host Scotland. Last night at Colome’s coronation, Kolton Salonen and Maggie McCarty were crowned homecoming Cowboy and Cowgirl! At Winner’s  Coronation Thursday, Ty Bolton and Macie Ferwerda were crowned Homecoming Warrior and Princess! Way to go!

THE COUGAR CROSS COUNTRY INVITE WAS HELD THURSDAY IN BURKE. KRAY PERSON OF BURKE/SOUTH CENTRAL WON AN EXCITING BOYS RACE IN A TIME OF 16:37, GREGORY’S AARON VOIGHT WAS RIGHT BEHIND KRAY AS HE HAD A TIME OF 16:39. JACKSON LIEWER AND TYSON MAYER WERE SIXTH AND SEVENTH OVERALL.GAYVILLE VOLIN’S MADISON FARLEY WON THE GIRLS RACE IN A TIME OF 20:14. EMMA THOMAS OF GREGORY FINISHED FOURTH AND SIDNEY MCCORD OF KIMBALL/WHITE LAKE WAS FIFTH.

Warriors welcome Chamberlain to town Friday

The 4-1 Winner Warriors will look for their fifth win in a row when they host the Chamberlain Cubs Friday night on homecoming night at Warrior Field. Winner is coming off a hard fought 20-14 win last Friday against the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans. The Cubs (2-3) will look to end their two game losing streak as they fell to Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central last week, 26-13 at home. Jazz Dominguez is the Cubs quarterback and has thrown for 1,140 yards on the season to go along with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. Jett Evans is the lead rusher for Chamberlain as he has rushed for 288 yards and is averaging over six yards per carry. Carson Powers and Mark Schwenk are the two leading receivers and nearly have identical numbers- Powers has 259 receiving yards entering the Winner game while Schwenk has 258 yards of receiving. Pre-game coverage on Country 1260 will start at 6:30.

Thursday reminders

Don’t forget that a blood drive will be happening from 8am-12:45 this afternoon at the Winner American Legion. Please set aside a little bit of time today and donate as donors are needed. The Wieman Auction will hold an equipment sale at 10:30 this morning, five miles south of St. Charles. They will be selling tractors, harvest equipment, machinery, livestock equipment, vehicles and more. The Pheasant Bar on Main in Winner welcomes all alumni back as they will have karaoke taking place tonight and tomorrow from 9 to closing.

All-Class reunion dance set for Friday night

The Winner High School Class of 1977 invites you to help them celebrate their 40th class reunion by attending their free all-class reunion dance on Friday, September 29th after the homecoming football game at St. Mary’s Hall in Winner. Doors will open at 8:30pm and you can enjoy the sounds of the Black Water Band from 9-1. A cash bar will be provided by Sargent’s,  a fundraising concession stand will be on site that will be run by the Spirit Gems and rides home will be provided. All honored classes, graduates and non graduates of Winner High School are welcome, but no one under 21 will be admitted.

Husker Huddle returns today

Chris Doski will be back with his ‘Husker Huddle’ program today on Country 1260 and tonight on Magic 93! Chris and a local Big Red football fan will recap last week’s win over Rutgers and look ahead to the Friday night game that Nebraska will be playing in Illinois tomorrow.
