Burke Livestock to celebrate 50 years Saturday

Donivan Lambley and the crew at Burke Livestock Auction will hold their 50th anniversary barbecue sale this Saturday, September 23rd with a free barbecue being served starting at 11am! The sale will get underway at 10:30am with the weighups followed by the feeders at 12:30 in the afternoon. Come congratulate Donivan and the family on 50 years of business, where they say “US Beef, its what’s for dinner!”. We will hear from Dillion Lambley later this week on Country 1260 during the Farm and Ranch Review too.

Class of '77 to hold all-class reunion dance

The Winner High School Class of 1977 invites you to help them celebrate their 40th class reunion by attending their free all-class reunion dance on Friday, September 29th after the homecoming football game at St. Mary’s Hall in Winner. Doors will open at 8:30pm and you can enjoy the sounds of the Black Water Band from 9-1. A cash bar will be provided by Sargent’s and a fundraising concession stand will be on site that will be run by the Spirit Gems. All honored classes, graduates and non graduates of Winner High School are welcome, but no one under 21 will be admitted.

Chili feed to happen Thursday in Presho

The Families against Meth of Lyman County group will hold a chili feed at the Presho City Park this Thursday, September 21st running from 4-7pm. Come out and enjoy chili, chili dogs, games and activities for the entire family. All of the proceeds will go toward establishing a drug prevention program for the Lyman School District.

Big events coming up in Gregory

Tonight, Rosebud Electric Cooperative in Gregory will hold its annual meeting of their members beginning at 7:30pm at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium. There will be an election of three directors, great food and entertainment along with terrific door prizes! Later this month, the Fireball Run will be making a stop in Gregory County! If you want to learn more about the huge news you can call Holly Glover with the Chamber at 831-9773.

Results from the weekend

The Big Dakota Conference Volleyball Tournament happened on Saturday in Fort Pierre. Miller beat Winner in a competitive championship game in straight sets. Chamberlain was fifth in the tournament while Todd County came  in sixth. Winner’s Alexis Richey, Abby Marts and Morgan Hammerbeck made the all-tournament team as did Makenzie Sorensen of Chamberlain and Raven Cournoyer of Todd County. The Benson/Haley/Gant one man scramble was held on Sunday at the Winner Country Club. Rich Crow Eagle won the tournament as he shot a 60. The Winner Fall Softball teams were in action yesterday. The high school team fell to Dell Rapids in game one, 15-2. Winner lost their second game of the day to Aberdeen, 10-4. The Winner Middle School Fall team beat Madison 7-5, and they also beat Sioux Falls Wollmann, 9-3.
