At the state b teener baseball tournament in Gregory Saturday, Onida beat Scotland in an elimination game by a final of 7-6 in nine innings. Gregory eliminated Kimball/White Lake in game two, 9-5. Game three last night was won by Tyndall as they beat Garretson, 6-1. The nightcap was won by Parker as they were able to hold off Alexandria, 3-2 in eight innings. At the state b amateur tournament in Mitchell on Saturday, Crofton took down Salem 2-0 on game one. The Dell Rapids Mudcats beat Dimock/Emery in game two, 4-2. Canton defeated Platte 3-0 in game three and Alexandria beat Flandreau, 8-1. At the state b junior legion tournament on Saturday, Winner beat Mission. Winner Regional held their annual golf tournament on Saturday. The winning team was Jeff Grossenburg, Tom Heying, Izak Nespor and Ronae Klein.

Day one of the State B VFW Teener Baseball Tournament is in the books in Gregory. In game one, Garretson was able to hold off Onida, 7-6. In game two, Tyndall shutout Scotland, 7-0. In game three, Alexandria defeated Kimball/White Lake, 10-6. The nightcap was won by Parker as they were able to hold off a late rally by Gregory, 10-7. At the State B Junior Legion Tournament Friday, Warner defeated Winner, 14-6 and Groton defeated Mission. Winner will play Mission at around 12:30 today in an elimination game. At the State B Amateur Tournament Friday at Cadwell Park, Irene beat Northville in game one, 13-5. Mt. Vernon was able to outscore Redfield for a 9-7 win. Harrisburg beat Parkston last night, 9-3 and Tabor won the nightcap over Beresford, 8-5.
Friday's events at the Mid Dakota Fair
They are back it at the Mid Dakota Fair in Winner at the Tripp County Fairgrounds today. From 11am-7pm you can checkout all the inflatables, ride the mechanical bull, do some paintballing and take a look at all the vendors. From 4-7 there will be buggy rides, from 5-7 there will be an appreciation picnic supper and pedal tractor pull along with stick horse races and Ag Olympics. At 7pm the corn on the cob contest will take place. Check it out!
Benefit concession stand at Buche's in Gregory this weekend
The Gregory IOOF Lodge will be sponsoring a benefit concession stand on Saturday, August 5th to help buy a new digital projector for the Hilltop Theatre. The stand will be open from 11am-2pm at the Buche Foods parking lot. Stop by and fill up on loaded baked potatoes, wimpy’s, hot dogs, chilidogs, chili-cheese dogs, nachos and super nachos! Check it out before you head to the state teener tournament!

Day two of the Class ‘B’ State Amateur Baseball Tournament is in the books at Cadwell Park in Mitchell. Lake Norden beat Miller/Wessington in game one yesterday, 4-3. Game two was won by Garretson as they were able to hold off Wynot, 5-4. Game three was won in shutout fashion by Freeman as they beat Milbank, 4-0. The nightcap was won by Larchwood as they defeated Plankinton, 6-2.
Winner and Mission ready for State Tournament in Groton
The State ‘B’ Junior Legion Baseball Tournament will take place this weekend in Groton. The tournament will get underway at 10am Friday as Lennox will take on Clairmont/Britton in game one followed by Wessington Springs against Redfield. At 5pm, Winner will battle Warner followed by Mission playing Groton. Best of luck to Mission and Winner this weekend at the State Tournament that will wrap up on Sunday.
Orientation set for August 15th in Winner
Winner High School Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 15th at 6pm in the Winner Armory for students entering grades 9-12. Parents must accompany a student to complete paperwork so they can be allowed to pickup a computer and take home. Middle School Orientation for grades 6-8 will take place on Thursday, August 17th at 6pm in the Armory. Students will receive schedules and other information during the meetings. Blood drives coming up in Butte and Burke
A blood drive will take place in Butte, Nebraska on Tuesday, August 22nd from 2-5:45pm at the Butte Community Center. If you would like to make an appointment you can call Phyllis at 402-832-5777.
