Don’t forget that American Island Days are coming up in the river city of Chamberlain August 19th and the 20th! There will be a 5k zombie run on Saturday the 19th at the Busted Nut parking lot along with the Mighty Mo Car Show and the Ag Olympics that weekend too. Dennis Hanson selected as Promoter of the Year
Come help Dennis Hanson and the Carlock Dance Hall celebrate as he has been selected as “Promoter of the Year” by the South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame! A reception will be held at Carlock Dance Hall on Sunday, July 30th with music starting at 2 and lunch will be served. There will be a fundraiser to help provide music supplies to the Gregory Elementary Music Education Program. All of us here at KWYR want to congratulate Dennis on the great honor!

Baseball from Thursday
The Region 4B Legion Baseball Tournament got started Thursday in Platte. In game one, Tabor beat Irene, 11-3. Game two went to Parkston as they defeated Corsica, 20-13. In game three, Tabor got past Platte/Geddes in nine innings, 2-1. At the Region 7B Legion Tournament in Gregory, Martin came from behind to defeat Lead/Deadwood, 5-4. Spearfish won game two over Gregory, 14-0. Martin beat Gregory in an elimination game last night, 12-1. The Region 4B Junior Teener Tournament wrapped up Thursday. In game one, Kimball/White Lake defeated Gregory, 13-10. In the championship, Platte beat Kimball/White Lake in five innings, 18-4. In Tea Thursday, Tea eliminated the Winner Junior Teeners from the postseason as they were victorious, 16-6. In amateur baseball last night, Winner/Colome defeated Platte, 11-1. Reed Harter was the winning pitcher for the Pheasants and Austin Richey had four hits. Four Corners defeated South Central on Thursday, 15-9. Chamberlain beat Kimball/White Lake, 10-3. Legion Baseball from Thursday, Aberdeen beat Winner/Colome, 13-10.
Winner Junior Legion team to play in Sioux Falls this weekend
The Winner Junior Legion Baseball team will head to Sioux Falls Friday to play in the Mid Summer Classic. At 2pm Friday, Winner will take on Pierre Post 8. Winner will then turn around and take on MB Silver at 4:30. Saturday, Winner will play the Brookings Bullets at 4:30 followed by their game against Sioux Falls Post 15 West at 7pm.

The Region 7B Legion Baseball Tournament got underway Wednesday in Gregory. Game one was won by Gregory as they beat Mission, 11-1. Game two, Spearfish shutout Lead/Deadwood, 9-0. Game three, Gregory beat Martin, 2-1. Game four went to Lead/Deadwood as they beat Mission, 14-4. In the southwest junior teener regional tournament in Tea last night, Winner beat Tri-Valley Maroon, 12-0.
Winner Summer Nights returns tonight!
Winner Summer Nights will be back on Main Street in Winner from 5:30-9pm tonight! Winner Dental Clinic is sponsoring the water themed event. Some of the activities that will happen are: squirt painting, teeth toss, face painting, bowling, hula hoop, elephant march and much more. There will be food provided by Smoking Bull BBQ, Wings & More, Spirit Gems, Pix Theatre and the Elk’s Club. An ice cream social will start at 6pm and a thin line relay will start at 8. Live music will be provided by Country Kraze.
Donate to the Sylvia Bear family
Donations are being requested for the Sylvia Bear family of Ideal that lost their home to a fire. The family would like to thank those who make donations and wanted to thank the Winner Fire Department and Tripp County Ambulance.
