The Lyman School District will hold a back to school open house on August 18th at the School. The elementary open house will begin at 5. An open house for middle and high schoolers will start at 6pm. There will also be a parent and student/athlete and coaches meeting that night at 7:30.

Burke Area Farmers Market to return tomorrow
The Burke Area Farmers Market will return to the Burke City Park tomorrow evening from 5:30 to 7pm. They will be recognizing National Farmers Week, and numerous door prizes will be up for grabs, along with plenty of produce available for purchase, along with crafts and much more.
Burke to host Ladies Golf Scramble tomorrow
The Burke Golf Course will be hosting a Let Freedom Swing, 2 lady, 9 hole scramble fun night tomorrow. There is a $50 entry fee with a meal included. Shotgun start is at 6pm. To signup, call 775-9190.
Pancake Feed set for this evening in Burke
The Burke Community Club will be putting on a community pancake feed this evening, in conjunction with the Street Bandits Car Club’s Car Show. It will take place at the burke Civic Center this evening from 5 to 7pm, as part of Gregory County’s 4H Achievement Days.

At the Winner Country Club, Justin Zeigler won the Thrivent Financial/ First Fidelity 1 person scramble as he shot a 62.
At the Bassett Country Club’s four person scramble, the team of Jake Friedrich, George Friedrich, Steve Camp and Carter Camp were victorious as they shot a 55.
At the Couples Tournament at the Lake Platte Golf Course, the team of Brooke Bonte and Michael Buitenbos were victorious as they shot 4 under par.

Cowboy Fair coming up August 15th in Colome
Colome will host their annual Cowboy Fair on August 15th. A corn hole tournament will happen at Skatetown from 3-5pm, root beer floats will be served at the legion from 4-5, bingo will happen at the legion from 5 to 6:30, a farmers market will be setup at the park from 4 to 7, a dunk tank will be setup on Main Street from 5 to 6:30, and a cowboy supper will be served on Main Street from 6:30 to 7:30.
Platte/Geddes JV Teener Baseball team wins State!
In the State JV Teener Baseball Championship Game in Estelline Sunday afternoon, Platte/Geddes won the Championship Game over Tri Valley, 1-0. Walter Graesser had the game winning single in the bottom of the seventh that scored Hayes Devries. Platte/Geddes went a perfect 5-0 at state this weekend!
State Amateur Baseball Tournament pairings are out
The South Dakota State B Amateur Baseball Tournament will get underway this Wednesday at Cadwell Park in Mitchell. Locally, at 8:15 on Wednesday night, Kimball/White Lake will take on Valley Springs. Thursday at 11am, Colome will play Dell Rapids PBR. Saturday at 1:30, Winner/Colome will play the Dell Rapids Mudcats. At around 8:15 on Saturday night, Burke will take on Redfield Dairy Queen.
Benefit set for August 29th in Burke
