Several fires reported in South Dakota and Nebraska on Wednesday

There were several fires in South Dakota and Nebraska last night, and into the overnight, including two large grass fires. One of those fires was northeast of Reliance, and the other east of Alexandria. The Reliance, Chamberlain, Lyman, Kennebec and Presho Fire Departments were paged out last night to the fire northeast of Reliance. There were also wildfires reported in Bon Homme County. Last evening, there were also severe thunderstorms for Stanley and Jones Counties. Multiple fires also broke out across Nebraska. A wildfire was reported burning across parts of Grant, Hooker and Cherry Counties, that saw an evacuation order for Whitman and the surrounding area. Multiple fire departments also responded, and were on the scene at two grassfires in northeast Nebraska. One fire was reported in Hubbard, that began shortly after 4pm. Authorities shut down Highway 11, south of Atkinson. A fire was located eight miles south of Atkinson on Wednesday evening.
