The Colome Volunteer Fire Department held their annual chicken supper fundraiser Saturday night at the Colome Legion with a very successful turn out. Glen Sealey with the Colome Volunteer Fire Department told KWYR news that served over 400 people. Funds raised over the weekend will go to new breathing apparatus equipment.

The Platte Creek Store just outside of Platte, South Dakota will have its official open on Thursday, March 31st beginning at 7:00 a.m. for breakfast. The night dinner special that evening will be wings or smokey rib tips.

The Colome Volunteer Fire Department’s Chicken supper that was was postponed due to weather will take place tomorrow at the Colome Legion from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The auction will take place at 6:30 p.n. This is fundraiser for Colome Volunteer Fire Department to raise money for a new breathing apparatus.
Gregory BID to Host 2nd Annual Career Fair
Gregory BID will be hosting the 2nd annual Career Fair. This will be held at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15pm on Tuesday March 22nd. There are many businesses attending and many of those have open positions. They also have 10 colleges and vocational schools attending that day.
It is a great time to see what careers are available in Gregory and what schools can help you further your education.
Rummage and Bake Sale Fundraiser at St. John Lutheran Church in Greogry
The Gregory Lutheran Youth Fellowship is hosting a Rummage and Bake Sale fundraiser this Saturday at the St. John Lutheran Church from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Proceeds will go toward sending 16 youth to the National Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas.
People are invited to come shop for delicious bake sale items or find new treasures for spring.
Winner School Board Meeting Tonight
The Winner School District 59-2 Board of Education will hold their regular monthly meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. in High School room 203. Please note the Winner School Board meets on the second Monday of each month unless otherwise specified.
Premiere Date of Carlock Dance Hall Season
The first dance at the Carlock Dance Hall will take place Saturday, April 16th at 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The band will be Red Thunder and this first dance of the season is free for anyone with a birthday on any date. All dances are on Saturday night’s unless otherwise noted.
Scholarship Opportunities from Burke Community Memorial Hospital
Local Students in the area have an opportunity to receive one of two scholarships from the Burke Community Memorial Hospital. One student can receive a $1000 “Employee’s of CMH Scholarship Fund” and another can receive a $2000 “Health Network Opportunity Scholarship”. The Film “Death on the Nile” will be showing at the Lyric Theater in Platte, South Dakota this weekend. The movie is rated PG-13 and stars Kenneth Branagh and Gal Gadot. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 2:00p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
