North Star ABATE will be having a ride for the Brooks Hurley Memorial on Saturday, June 2nd. The group will be leaving from the Pheasant Bar in Winner at 1pm and will make stops in Dallas, Gregory and Dock 44. The ride tour will end at the North Star followed by a potluck with a free will offering and everyone is welcome to attend.

The Bethel Church in Platte will be holding an indian taco feed and pie auction fundraiser on Friday from 5:30-7:30. It will be a free will offering for the taco bar along with the pie auction throughout the night. Money raised will go towards new heating/air conditioning and carpet for the sanctuary.

A reminder that Lyman Kindergarten and Preschool screenings will be held today from 8:15-Noon and 1 to 3:30 at the Kennebec Gym. Screenings will again be held tomorrow from 8:15-12:30. South Central RC&D members will meet at Cherry Todd Electric in Mission this afternoon at 1:30. The Gregory Spring Band Concert is tonight at 7pm at the Park Performance Center in Gregory. The 50th annual Country Music and Fiddlers Jamboree will be held on Friday, May 25th starting at 7pm in the Elementary Multi-Purpose Room in Springview, Nebraska! Admission by donation with the proceeds going to benefit the Keya Paha County Historical Society. Other events in conjunction with the Jamboree are: May 23rd at Frank Day’s in Dallas at 8pm. May 24th at the Cattleman’s Lounge in Springview at 8pm. May 25th, Jam Session on the museum lawn at 1pm in Springview. May 26th, at the Carlock Ballroom in Carlock at 8pm and May 27th at the Wewela Hall at 2pm.

Central South Dakota saw a little bit of rain last night. Darnell Swanson said she received .80 of an inch. There was a report four miles west of Clearfield that .95 fell last night. At Carlock, Dennis said he received half an inch. Fred Weidner at Dog Ear Lake said he got .76. Cheryl Schroeder in Winner called in .16. Pete Haukaas, southeast of Okreek said he had 22/100’s fall Monday night. Donna Howland had 24/100’s. Short Haley said had .40 in Colome and .15 at the Lumber Yard. Stan Biceck, 10 miles south of Colome, received three quarters of an inch of rain last night.

We have a few concerts happening in the area this week: The Winner fifth graders will hold a spring concert at 7pm tonight. Also tonight is the Gregory 6th through 12th grade spring vocal concert starting at 7:30pm at the Gregory Auditorium. On Thursday, May 10th, the Gregory Spring Band Concert will be held at the Park Performance Center beginning at 7pm.

Don’t forget that Lyman Kindergarten and Preschool screenings will be held at the Kennebec Gymnasium on Thursday, May 10th from 8:15am-Noon and from 1 to 3:30.
