Benefit to be held next week in Platte

A “top your tater” benefit will be held for Mrs. Christa Peterson on Tuesday, January 30th starting at 4:30pm at the Platte/Geddes Elementary School. It is a free will donation event with all of the proceeds being donated to the Peterson family to help with medical expenses. The event is being sponsored by the Platte-Geddes staff and Modern Woodman.

Boy Scout soup supper to happen Monday

A Boy Scout soup supper will be held on Monday, January 29th at St. Mary’s Hall in Winner from 5:30 to 7:30pm. They will be serving chicken noodle, chili and homemade desserts. Ages twelve and up get in for five dollars and eleven and under can enjoy for four dollars. The event is sponsored by the Winner Boy Scout Troop 100 g roup. Falcons ready to host the Warriors tonight

Scott Schramm will be in Mission tonight for the Winner at Todd County boys basketball game. Pre-game on Magic 93 will start at around 7:35. The 5-7 Falcons look to snap a two game losing streak after they fell to Crow Creek on Saturday, 73-30. Todd County’s leading scorer is Aiden Bizardie, who is averaging 20.9 points per game. Brett Gardner’s 3-9 Warriors look to end a three game skid tonight. Winner fell on the road to Pine Ridge in their most recent game on Thursday, 73-52. The Warriors have two players averaging double figures in the scoring colum- Brady Fritz at 13.7 points per game and Brandon Volmer is averaging 10.4 points a contest.

Borderline Bassmasters Ice Derby coming up

The Borderline Bassmasters will hold their annual ice derby on Sunday, January 28th at Roosevelt Dam. Registration will go from 8-9am and the tournament will get underway at 9 and end at 3pm. The cost is fifteen dollars. Everyone will fish for bass, northern and perch. Cash will be awarded to the winners. For more information call DB’s Bait and Tackle at 842-2199.

Wood benefit dart tournament coming up

A benefit dart tournament will be held in Wood on Saturday, February 3rd with a sixty dollar entry fee and one hundred percent payout with a thirty two team limit. Check-in time will be 8am and the start time is 9am at the Wood Community Hall. Blind draws will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 5:30 with a five dollar entry. Proceeds will go to the Wood Community Hall and Gregory Rescues Unlimited. To signup call TNT Enterprises at 384-5350.

Check-R-Board Days coming up Wednesday

Don’t forget that Hansen Mueller, who is a Purina certified expert dealer in Colome, will hold their Purina Check-R-Board Days, along with their annual cow chip auction coming up on Wednesday, January 24th at Skatetown on Main Street in Colome. Polar Bear Festival to happen this weekend

The Niobrara River Polar Bear Festival will take place January 26th and the 27th in Meadville, Nebraska! On Friday, there will be a social gathering at 5pm. At 7, the Polar Bear Festival Kick-Off party will be held at the Meadville Store followed by kopy cat karaoke at 9pm. On Saturday, a liquid courage party will happen at the Meadville Store followed by registration starting at noon. At 2pm the annual Polar Bear Dip will happen in the Niobrara River at Meadville Park. At 2 the coronation of the Polar Bear King and Queen will take place. Live music will be provided by “New, Old and Broke” at the Meadville Store following the plunge. Free-will donations will be taken for Keya Paha Fire and Rescue. All dippers must register in advance. For more information call Becca at 402-382-5252.
