Old Settlers Reunion to happen on Saturday
The 131st annual Old Settlers Reunion will be held on Saturday, August 25th in Sparks, Nebraska! 9am will be the open rodeo events. At 10am is the horseshoe competition. At 11am, the Bowery Program will be conducted by Sally Conner. At 12noon is small sports for all ages. Following the open rodeo events will be a calcutta for team sorting and horse races. Some of the other events for next Saturday include a ribbon roping, business man roping and plenty more. If you have questions, call 402-322-1462.
Hansen Mueller Checkerboard Days coming up
Hansen Mueller in Colome would like to say thank you to all of the local farmers and ranchers by inviting them to their Checkerboard Days on Thursday, August 30th next week from 11am to 2pm! They will be serving up free brats, burgers, hot dogs and drinks for all who attend. Bring the entire family as there will be many great prizes up for grabs!

Couple of weekend reminders
Coming up this Sunday, August 26th will be a youth registration fall meeting at the Bowling Dome in Chamberlain starting at 6:30pm. Also this Sunday will be a family fun day at the Grandview addition in Gregory in the afternoon! Come out and enjoy a day of kite flying and games on Sunday.
Women in Ag Day coming up in Burke
Women in Ag Day is coming up on Tuesday, September 11th at the Burke Civic Center. Registration will run from 8am to 8:30 and the conference will go from 8:50am to 4pm. Stan Bicek, ten miles south of Colome, reported two inches. Pete Haukaas, in Okreek, received an inch 50 on Wednesday. Fred Weidner at Dog Ear Lake said he had an inch 53 yesterday. Nathan McPhee said an inch 60 fell 22 miles northwest of Winner on Wednesday. Linda Dimond, six miles northeast of Wood, reported a half an inch of rain. Rick Bice in Ideal received half an inch of rain Wednesday. Rick Odenbach in Hamill also received a half an inch of rain yesterday. Dennis Hansen at Carlock reported an inch 90. Blood drives coming up in Butte and Burke
A couple of blood drives are coming up later this month. A blood drive will happen in Butte, Nebraska on Monday, August 27th from 1-5pm at the Community Center.
