The Chamberlain/Oacoma Area Chamber of Commerce has wrapped up their Burger Battle! Charly’s Restaurant & Lounge was the first place finisher. The Dakota Cuban came in second place while the Silver Dollar Bar was third. 2,399 votes were cast in the Burger Battle. Further details will be revealed in the coming days on KWYR News.

The T4 Foundation in Winner will hold ‘Not Your Granny’s Bingo’ on Saturday, March 21st beginning at 7pm at the Community Connections Building in Winner. This will be a fundraiser for the T4 Foundation. Bring the whole family and your friends for a fun filled night!

The Big Bend Shrine Circus will be coming back to the Chamberlain Armory on April 21st and the 22nd! Shows will be at 4:30 and 7:15. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids. Tickets can be purchased at Burke Oil, or by calling 605-730-0799.

Mellette County Fatal Crash

When:   3:51 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026

Occupant 1: Female, from Mission, SD, fatal injuries

Mellette County, S.D. – A Mission, SD woman died and three others were seriously injured Sunday in a single-vehicle crash 13 miles southeast of White River, SD.

The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling eastbound on Ring Thunder Road. The driver failed to negotiate a curve and went into a yaw. The vehicle tripped and rolled, coming to rest in the north ditch. All four occupants were ejected. Three occupants sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The fourth was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

When:   4:47 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026

Driver 1: 53-year-old male from Gregory, SD, fatal injuries

Gregory County, S.D. – A Gregory, SD man died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash on 339^th Avenue, three miles south of Gregory.

The name of the person involved has not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2016 Honda UTV was traveling southbound on 339^th Avenue near 292^nd Street when the vehicle left the roadway and entered a steep embankment and rolled into a creek.

The time of the crash is under investigation. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is preliminary.
