STURGIS, S.D. – Final vehicle traffic counts from the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) for vehicles entering Sturgis for the 82^nd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Aug. 5-14, 2022, have been tallied.

Traffic counts at nine locations entering Sturgis for the 2022 Rally are as follows:

Friday, Aug. 5: 56,855 entering

• Up 11.4% from the previous five-year average

Saturday, Aug. 6: 62,199 entering

• Up 5% from the previous five-year average

Sunday, Aug. 7: 60,672 entering

• Up 6.8% from the previous five-year average

Monday, Aug. 8: 62,050 entering

• Up 3.3% from the previous five-year average

Tuesday, Aug. 9: 58,610 entering

• Up 1.6% from the previous five-year average

Wednesday, Aug. 10: 54,599 entering

• Down 1.9% from the previous five-year average

Thursday, Aug. 11: 45,356 entering

• Down 11.7% from the previous five-year average

Friday, Aug. 12: 44,246 entering

• Down 1.3% from the previous five-year average

Saturday, Aug. 13: 37,917 entering

• Down 8.0% from the previous five-year average

Sunday, Aug. 14: 20,331 entering

• Down 2.1% from the previous five-year average

2022 – 10 Day Total: 502,835 Vehicles

• Up 2.1% from the previous five-year average

Midlands Contracting is wrapping up the Utilities portion of Main Street. This means Sanitary Sewer and Water Services are complete on the Main Street section of this project. Some of next year’s work is finished. Crews will continue placing Storm Sewer pipe and inlets as part of the highway project.

Paulsen Construction will complete placement of 9″ concrete for the intersection of 1^st & Main and expect the 2^nd Street intersection to be open with periodic closures for construction work. Sidewalk construction will continue for the block of 1^st & Main to 2^nd & Main.

 IES Commercial, INC continues to place footings and conduit for Street lighting and Traffic Signals.

The City of Winner will hold their council meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Winner City council chambers at 325 South Monroe Street.  Following the meeting will be a Town Hall meeting for residents to provide their input.

The Chamberlain City Commissioners will meet tomorrow night (Monday) at 6:00 p.m. at the Chamberlain City offices located at 715 North Main Street. Please note that the City of Chamberlain meets on the first and third Monday of each month.

The 13th Annual Geddes Run/Walk will take place tomorrow. Registration will begin at 7:00am at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church  and  the Walk/Run will begin at 8:00am sharp.  The cost to register is $30.00

After the Winner City Pool closes for people swimming the City of Winner will be holding a puppy pool party from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where residents can bring their dogs to swim in the pool.  Floaties and toys will be allowed.

The Winner School Board will hold their monthly school board meeting on Monday, August 8th at 7:00 pm in room 200 of the Winner High School building located at 431 East 7th Street.  Agenda items must be submitted to the Superintendent by the first Wednesday of each month.
