Fun weekend at the Bowling Dome

It will be a fun Easter weekend at the Bowling Dome in Chamberlain! Saturday, April 3rd, they will be hosting a Sweeper Tournament that will start at 6pm. There is a  $40 entry fee to compete. If you have any questions, call the Bowling Dome at 605 234 6802. They hope to see you this weekend!

Prairie Hills Golf Course sets tournament schedule for the season

The Prairie Hills Golf Course in Mission has set their tournament schedule for the season. Their first tournament will happen on May 29th, as it will be the 8th annual Zondo Swalley Memorial 2 person tournament. They will kick off June with the Johnny Schmitz Memorial 4 person scramble on June 20th. You can find the entire golf tournament schedule for the season on our sports schedule page.

Demolition Derby to happen May 22nd in Chamberlain

Full Steam Promotions will present the River Run of Destruction Demolition Derby on Saturday, May 22nd in Chamberlain. New this year, will be a 3 man team show. $300 entry fee and a limit of 16 teams. $8,000 payout guaranteed. The derby site will be off Exit 265, turn north a quarter mile, then west on Sunset Road. Softball signups happening today and tomorrow in Winner

Winner Girls Softball Sign ups will be held for the summer softball season at the Elementary School March 29th and 30th from 4-6PM. This form, payment, deposit, insurance card copy and player’s birth certificate can be brought at the sign-up or given to a board member prior to April 9th, 2021. Registrations are held early to allow players to be covered under insurance for any pre-season workouts or fundamentals. Registrations can also be mailed to Shawna Kaiser,  31355 277th St Winner SD 57580, or emailed to jskaiser@gwtc.net.

3 Class Shootout scores from Saturday

The 3 Class All-Star Basketball Shootout took place Saturday in Salem. On the girls side, the AA Girls defeated the Class A Girls, 85-77. Winner’s Kalla Bertram scored 14 points. In game two, the AA Girls claimed victory over Class B, 79-76. White River’s Caelyn Valandra-Prue scored 14 points while Kimball/White Lake’s Kennedy Leiferman scored seven. On the boys side, the Class AA team beat Class A, 126-97. Winner’s Brady Fritz scored 11 points while Chamberlain’s Drayton Priebe scored 8 points. The Class AA boys beat the Class B team, 118-94. Kelby VanDerWerff of Platte/Geddes scored 8 points.

Ainsworth Relay results

Here are the local first place finishers from Saturday’s Ainsworth Relays: Kenneth Shelbourn of Valentine won the boys long jump. North Central’s Hunter Wiebelhuas won the girls high jump. Ainsworth’s Carter Nelson won the boys high jump. Kaitlyn Nelson of Ainsworth won the girls discus throw.  Kenneth Shelbourn won the boys triple jump. Kaitlyn Nelson won the girls shot put. Ainsworth’s Maia Flynn won the girls pole vault. Ainsworth was victorious in the girls distance medley. The North Central girls won the 4 x 2 meter relay while the Valentine boys won the boys 4 x 2 relay. The Valentine girls claimed victory in the 3 X 60 shuttle hurdle. Valentine also won the boys 3 X 64 shuttle hurdle. The North Central girls won the 4 x 800 relay while the North Central boys won the same event as well along with the boys 4 X 100. Relay. The Ainsworth boys won the the boys 1600 sprint medley along with the girls 3 X 195 shuttle hurdle. Valentine won the boys 3 X 195 shuttle hurdle. North Central won the girls  4 X 400 relay. The Ainsworth girls won the team title while North Central was second and Valentine finished fourth. On the boys side, Valentine won the team title, North Central was third and Ainsworth came in sixth.

South Central All-Conference Basketball team revealed

The South Central All-Conference Boys Basketball team has been revealed. For Platte/Geddes, Kelby VanDerWerff and Caden Foxley made all-conference while Will Miller and Brady Boltjes were also honored. Burke had three players selected in Bryce Frank, Ben Witt and Brogan Glover. Gregory also had three players make all-conference: Daniel Mitchell, Coy Determan and Cruz Klundt. Kimball/White Lake’s Bennett Namanny and Colome’s Rhet Bertram made all-conference as well. Dawson Miller of Kimball/White Lake, Jackson Neuman of Platte-Geddes were honorable mention selections.

SESD Boys All-Conference Team

The Boys SESD All-Conference Basketball team has been revealed. Making first team all-conference was Winner’s Brady Fritz. Blake Volmer of Winner was named to second team all-conference.  Caden Foxley and Kelby VanDerWerff of Platte/Geddes made first team all-conference, while Chamberlain’s Drayton Priebe also made first team all-conference.  Gregory’s Coy Determan and Daniel Mitchell were named to the second team all-conference along with Chamberlain’s Sellyck McManus. Cameron Caldwell and Hayden Evans made third team all-conference for the Cubs.

Big Dakota All-Conference teams revealed

Here are the area basketball players who were named to the Big Dakota All-Conference teams. On the girls side, making all conference for Winner were: Bella Swedlund, Kalla Bertram, Maggie Lacompte and Kelsey Sachtjen. Making honorable mention was Ellie Brozik. For Chamberlain, Mya Knippling and Emma Powers made all-conference. Caycee Guinn was named to the honorable mention team. On the boys side, Winner’s Brady Fritz, Blake Volmer and Elijah Peterson made all-conference. Slade Cournoyer made honorable mention. For Chamberlain, Drayton Priebe, Sellyck McManus and Cameron Caldwell made all-conference. Hayden Evans made honorable mention.
