Range Robbins Outdoor Tournament to happen this weekend

The Tripp County Range Robbins will hold an outdoor tournament this Saturday, August 1st at the Rosebud Arrow, Rod & Gun Club in Winner. Check-in and equipment inspection will happen from 10-11am. Registration is open until Wednesday or until the field fills up. Cost is ten dollars for cubs and twenty dollars for masters. For more information, contact Wade McClanahan at 840-2687.

In the District 5B Amateur Baseball Tournament in Corsica last night, Winner/Colome defeated Corsica/Stickney, 11-4. Dillion Lambley and Reed Harter both hit home runs in the victory for the Pheasants. Game two was cut short due to lightning and rain. Platte leads Mt. Vernon 5-2 after six innings and will be finished Saturday. The game will resume at 6pm in Corsica. In District 3B Legion Baseball Friday in Alexandria, Alexandria scored once in the first inning and that was the only scoring of the game as they beat Winner/Colome, 1-0. Kameron Meiners pitched well for Winner/Colome as he went six innings on the mound and allowed just four hits and did not issue a walk. Winner/Colome will play on Tuesday against the loser of Monday’s Tabor vs Parkston game in Alexandria at 5pm.

In Region 3A teener baseball in Wagner on Wednesday, Kimball/ White Lake beat Winner 5-3 to be crowned region champions. In Region 3B in Tabor, Gregory won their first game of the day over MVP, 4-3. Tyndall beat Gregory for the Region Championship, 9-5. Gregory qualifies for state as region runner up for next weekend.

Teener recap from Tuesday….matchups for Wednesday

In Region 3B Teener Baseball on Tuesday in Tabor, Corsica/Stickney beat Parkston, 4-3. MVP beat Platte/Geddes, 10-9. Tyndall scored an 8-4 win over Gregory. MVP won the nightcap over Corsica/Stickney, 8-7. Wednesday at 3pm, Gregory plays MVP before Tyndall plays the winner of game 1 at 5:30. In Wagner at the Region 3A tournament from Tuesday, Winner’s offense showed up in a big way as they won the first game over Wagner, 11-6. Winner was victorious in game two over West Central, 19-13. Today at 4pm, Kimball/White Lake battles Winner. If KWL wins, they are region champs. If Winner is victorious, the two teams will play a second game at around 6:30.

State Baseball from Saturday- Gregory victorious, Chamberlain falls in a low scoring game

In Junior Teener Baseball on Saturday in Webster, Gregory was able to march on to Sunday’s championship game as they took down the FH Hitmen, 8-3. Daniel Mitchell and Rylan Peck each drove in two runs in the victory. Trey Murray went 5 and 2/3 innings on the mound as he only allowed three hits and struck out five. Gregory will play Sunday at 5pm against Canova, who won a high scoring game over Castlewood on Saturday, 13-9.  In Chamberlain, Elk Point-Jefferson was held to just one hit, but still managed to squeak out a 2-1 victory over Chamberlain Saturday. Chamberlain was able to strike first in the third inning, but EPJ scored a run in the fifth and sixth innings respectively. EPJ will play West Central Sunday at 5pm for the State A Championship. Chamberlain will play for third place against Dakota Valley at 2:30.

Chamberlain and Gregory advance to the Junior Teener Semi-Final round

It was a good night for Central South Dakota at the State A and State B Junior Teener Baseball Tournaments. In Chamberlain last night, Chamberlain was able to play very well on their home field as they took down Madison Gold, 5-3. Chamberlain will play at 7:30 Saturday night against Elk Point-Jefferson. In Webster, Gregory came out swinging as they beat MVP on Friday, 14-0. Gregory advances to play the FH Hitmen at around 8pm Saturday night.
