Golf from Monday, and Preseason Football Poll

In Boys Golf on Monday, Sisseton won the team title at the Dell Rapids Invite. Sisseton was able to hold off Sioux Valley by three strokes to claim victory. Brock Murphy of Tea finished atop the leaderboard as he shot a 73. Chamberlain’s Cameron Caldwell placed third as he carded a 75. Chamberlain’s Drayton Priebe finished fourteenth overall as he shot an 84.

In the week 1 Media Football Poll, Dakota Valley sits alone at the top of Class 11A. Sioux Falls Christian is first in 11B while Winner is fifth this week. Gregory remains in the number one spot in 9AA while Kimball/White Lake is receiving votes. In 9B, Sully Buttes is ranked first while Colome is third.

 

Tripp County Flag Football to start soon

The 2018 Tripp County Flag Football season will get underway this Saturday, August 25th! A meet the team and coaches night will be held Thursday, August 23rd at 6:30pm. Games will be held on the following Saturday’s with fourth and fifth grade games starting at 9am followed by second and third grade games at 10am: Week 1, August 25th. Week 2, September 8th. Week 3, September 15th. Week 4, September 22nd and Week 5, September 29th. If you have questions, contact Jamie Heubrock at 840-2466.

Chamberlain golfers victorious in Mobridge

Boys Golf was held yesterday in Mobridge. The Chamberlain Boys finished first with a 360 score as a team as Mobridge, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte and Chamberlain competed. Chamberlain’s Cameron Caldwell shot a 71 for first place. Drayton Priebe was second overall as he carded an 80. Dakota Munger of Chamberlain shot a 104 for seventh, Max Kelsey finished eighth while Eric Strande was tenth.

 

Winner Youth Outdoor Day to happen Saturday

Pheasants Forever Chapter 99 will hold their annual Winner Outdoor Youth Day this Saturday, August 18th at the Rosebud Arrow, Rod and Gun Club in Winner from 9am-1pm. Prizes to be won will be shotguns, rifles, an archery bow, a fishing package and a camping package. Lunch will be provided from noon-1. This event is open to kids ages 5-16. Cowboys and Gorillas to open week 0 at home

The Colome Cowboys will begin their 2018 football campaign on their home field this Friday as they will host the Centerville Tornadoes. KWYR will cover the Cowboys in week 1 next week as they head to Armour to play TDA/AC/DC. Coming up this Friday in Gregory, the two time defending state champion Gorillas will open their season against the Kimball/White Lake Wildkats. KWYR will cover some huge Gorilla road games later this year when they head to Bon Homme, Wolsey and Miller.
