High School Golf was held out in the Black Hills on Monday as the Black Hills Classic took place. On the girls side, Newell won the team title with 106 points. White River was fourth as a unit. On the boys side, Philip won the team title while Jones County was third. Lemmon’s Braydon Peterson finished first alongside John Jackson of Newell as both guys shot a 91. Riley Rankin of Jones County was third with a 92. On the girls side, Josie Rush of Philip finished first with a 98.

The Winner/Colome wrapped up their perfect regular season last night as they beat Platte, 16-9. Carter Brickman, Ty Bolton and Chase Dufek had multiple hits in the victory last night for the Royals, who are 10-0 and are the top seed in Region 4B. The first round of the playoffs will start early next week with matchups to be determined. The Super Regional Tournament will be held at Leahy Bowl on Monday, May 21st.
We had golf take place in Springfield and Tyndall yesterday. In Tyndall on the girls side, Burke/South Central won the team title with a 255. Taylee Indahl finished atop the leaderboard with a 76 while her teammate Tressa Bull was runner up with an 84. Emily Stukel of Burke/South Central shot a 95 for fourth place, Gregory’s Emma Schweigert was fifth with a 95, Mariah VanZee of Platte/Geddes also shot a 95 for sixth, Adisn Indahl was seventh with a 98 and Lindsey Wenger of Gregory was eighth with a 101. On the boys side in Springfield, Platte/Geddes’ Brody Boltjes finished first overall with a 78. Gregory’s JJ Beck was runner up with an 85 while Jon Bakke of Gregory shot an 86 for third. Burke/South Central’s Bryce Frank came in fourth by shooting an 87. Peyton Nelson of Platte/Geddes was fifth with an 88 while Gregory’s Jayd VanDerWerff was sixth as he shot an 88.

In Club Baseball last night, Platte was able to defeat Chamberlain on the road in extra innings by a final score of 5-2. Cole Nachtigal had the go ahead hit in the eighth and he also picked up the win on the mound.
Golf on Thursday, Sioux Falls Christian won the Madison Invite with a 384 team score. Megan Hinker of Lennox had the top score as she shot an 85. Chamberlain’s top golfer was Erika Larson as she carded a 107.
At the Valentine Invite, Mason Hale of West Holt shot a tournament best 74. Valentine’s Dylan Hathorn shot an 81 while Sam Wilkins of Ainsworth carded an 83.

In Club Baseball last night, the Winner/Colome Royals moved their record to 9-0 as they were able to outscore Gregory County on the road, 11-7. Carter Brickman drove in a couple of runs for the Royals while Aaron Sundquist drove in a pair for Gregory County. Ty Bolton and Jeremiah Yeaman had two hits for Winner/Colome, who now get set for a big road game Friday night in Platte.
