Results of the Frontier Days Rodeo

The 114th annual Frontier Days Rodeo wrapped up Sunday in White River. In steer wrestling, Carson Cooksley of Valentine finished in first place in a time of 6.4 seconds. In team roping, the team of Chad Hetzel and Jesse Dale were victorious in a time of 8 seconds. In ladies breakaway, Jacque Peterson of Isabel finished in first place in 2.8 seconds. In mixed team roping, Brooke Jameson and Lane Kennedy of Nebraska finished in first place in 9.2 seconds. In saddle bronc, Cooper West of Philip finished in first place with a score of 80.  In senior men’s breakaway, Jeff Jones of Midland finished in first in 3.5 seconds. In bareback riding, Hunter Big Eagle of Harold finished in first place with a score of 76. In barrel racing, Gale Beebe of Custer was first in 17.73 seconds. In bull riding, Hazin Schmidt of White River was victorious with a score of 81. In calf roping, Bernard Girard of Alliance, Nebraska was first in a time of 10.6 seconds. In goat tying, Karissa Gotschall of Torrington, Wyoming was first in 8 seconds.

8U Little League Machine Pitch State Baseball in Humboldt-

Gregory finished seventh overall. Gregory on Sunday fell to Avon, 11-6.

In the Charlie division, the Dell Rapids Dirt Dawgs won the championship game over Platte/Geddes, 13-11.

 

Little League Baseball Sunday

In the State Championship in Rapid City, Sioux Falls over Brandon Valley, 15-4. Sioux Falls advances to the Midwest Regional that begins August 7th in Whitestown, Indiana. Sioux Falls will do battle against the Nebraska state champions.

 

Golf

In the South Dakota Golf Assocation Amateur Men’s Championship that wrapped up Sunday in Sioux Falls at Elmwood, Parker Edens of Brookings held off Dakota Munger, formerly of Chamberlain, who is golfing at Dakota Wesleyan. Edens won in a one hole playoff after both guys each shot a 206 round 3 total.

In the Women’s Amateur Championship, Kaitlin Strain of Rapid City held off Olivia Braun of Aberdeen Central, as Strain shot a three round total, 217, while Braun carded a 220.

In the USA Softball State Tournament Sunday in Sioux Falls, the Hartford Heat won the 14u championship over Tea, 13-3.

 

Little League Baseball Sunday

8U Machine Pitch State Championships in Humboldt.

In the Delta Division, Clark beat the Brandon Valley Legends in the championship game, 10-6.

In the Alpha division, the Sioux Falls Havoc won the championship game over the Brandon Valley Little Dingers, 4-2.

Twins over the Angels, 4-2. Minnesota enters the All Star break with a record of 48-49, and they are 3 games back of Cleveland and Chicago for first place in the AL Central.

At the Budweiser/Jorgensen/Grossenburg four person scramble at the Winner Country Club, the team of Randy Godel, Stacy Rayman, Kevin Rayman and  Dale Lipp were victorious as they shot a 62.

At the Gregory County Locker four person tournament Saturday at the Burke Golf Course, Levi VanOverSchelde’s team was victorious as they finished with a 63.

At the Vegas Scramble at the Bassett Country Club on Saturday, the team of Carson Anderson, Keian Fischer, Ryan Steinhauser and Cole Schroer won the championship flight as they shot a 58.

At the Chamberlain Booster Club 4 person scramble on Saturday, David Hamiel’s team finished in first place as they carded a 52.

At the Par for the Pool Fundraising 2 person best ball at Prairie Hills Golf Course in Mission, the team of Bryson Crow Eagle and Daniel Brave were victorious as they shot a 63.

 

Jr Legion Baseball

At the Spearfish Tournament, Winner/Colome defeated Belle Fourche, 14-1. The Rapid City Sliders defeated Winner/Colome, 10-0.
