The new restaurant in Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner, has their soft open today. They will open at 11am and close around 7pm. Normal hours start Monday 11 am to 9 pm and they will be open 7 days a week. Their menu can be found at www.winnerchickendinner.us. Some of the menu items include broasted chicken , chicken tenders, potato wedges, beer-battered potato side winders, brown sugar baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese.

Multiple Fires in North Central Nebraska Yesterday
On Friday, the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire located just north of Rose, Nebraska. During their travel to the fire, another large grass fire south of Rose was reported. This led the Firefighters to respond to both calls simultaneously.
Finally, a third fire was noticed by fire crews with trees burning in a tree grove in the area.
All three fires were started by a lightning storm that passed through the area.
Golf and Track from Friday
It was a busy sports day Friday for our area athletes. At the Pierre Legion Relays, Winner’s Kade Watson was sixth in the mile. Winner’s Aaron Monk was third in the 110 hurdles. Todd County’s Julise Shaw was seventh in the long jump while Ellie Brozik of Winner was fifth in the triple jump. At the Greenway Relays in Mount Vernon, Burke’s Piper Hanson had a strong day as she won the 100 and 300 hurdles along with the long jump. Chamberlain’s Kinsey Evans was victorious in the girls mile and two mile. Kimball/White Lake won the boys mile sprint medley. Park Sinclair of Kimball/White Lake won the boys two mile. In Girls Golf Friday at the Parkston Meet in Mitchell, Chamberlain finished first as a team, eleven strokes ahead of second place Parkston. Winner Area was fifth as a team. Kyley Wirebaugh of Aberdeen Central was the medalist as she carded an 88. Chamberlain’s Alexis Cronk was third with a 95. Winner Area’s Gracie Root tied for fifth with a 101. At the Burke/Gregory Golf Invite Friday, Winner won the girls team title with a 385. White River was second with a 323 team score. Abigail Svatos of AC/DC was the medalist with an 87. Calli Davis of Burke was runner up with a 90. Karlie Cameron of White River was third with a 92. On the boys side, Gregory won the team title with a 225 score. Kade Stukel of Gregory was the medalist as he shot a 73. Eli Fogel of Gregory was runner up with the same score while Dawson Hoffman of Platte/Geddes was third with a 77.
106th Annual Maypole Dance Saturday April 30th
The 106th Annual Maypole Dance will take place on Saturday, April 30th at the Dallas Legion Hall in Dallas, South Dakota from 8:00p.m. to 12:00a.m. The Winding of the Maypole begins promptly at 8:00 p.m. For tickets one can call 605-830-2301.

Results from Thursday’s Big Dakota Girls Golf Meet
The Big Dakota Girls Golf Meet was held Thursday in Mobridge. Winner Area won the girls team title as they finished with 418 team points. Chamberlain’s Alexis Cronk was the medalist as she carded an 89. Trey Speer of Chamberlain was runner up with a 99. Winner Area’s Gracie Root was third with a 101. Devan Dougherty of Winner Area was fourth with a 101. Kelbi Meiners of Winner Area was sixth with a 105. Rylee Root of Winner Area was eighth with a 111 while Marissa Meiners of Winner Area carded a 123.
Winner Assembly of God Church to Present “Glory Way”

Cook the Book Tonight at the Gregory Public Library
The next “Cook the Book” event takes place tonight at 5:30p.m. at the Gregory Public Library. People are encouraged to bring a signature dish that they have created. This can also include a secret family recipe handed down from generations. This will be a recipe swap and give others a chance to try something new they might want to share with their family at home. All Star Basketball games in White River tonight
The Great Plains Senior All-Star Basketball Games will take place in White River Tonight! The girls game will start at 6pm. At halftime will be the girls 3 point contest. The dunk contest will follow the girls game. The boys game will start at around 8pm. The boys 3 point contest will be at halftime. Doors this evening will open at 5pm. Cost for adults is $6 and it will be $4 for students.
