City Wide Cleanup coming up in Mission

The City of Mission will hold a city wide cleanup next month. Ward 3 cleanup will be from June 9th through the 15th. Ward 2 cleanup will be from June 23rd through the 29th. Ward 1 cleanup will be from July 7th through the 13th. If you have questions, contact the city office at 856- 4499.

Highlights from day 1 of State Track and Field Thursday in Sioux Falls

Paige Bull of Burke won a state championship in the girls class b discus as she finished first overall with a throw of 141-11

The Winner boys sprint medley relay team finished third overall in Class A in a time of 3:38:43. The time was .43 off the school record.

The Winner boys 4X8 relay team finished fourth in 8:15:68.

In the boys class B 110 meter hurdle prelims, Lyman’s Cole Keiffer had the sixth fastest time in 16:29.

In the boys class a 110 meter hurdle prelims, Winner’s Austin Blare had the 8th fastest time in 15.75

In the girls class b 4×8 relay, Kimball/White Lake placed third in 10:07:99.

In the boys class b 4×8 relay, Jones County placed fourth in 8:36:23

In the girls class b 100 prelims, Lyman’s Brooke Montgomery had the third fastest time in 12.59.

In the boys class a 100 prelims, Carson Vanden Berge had the seventh fastest time in 11:30.

In the boys class b 4X1 relay prelims, Gregory had the fourth fastest time in 44:39.

In the boys class a 4×1 relay prelims, Platte/Geddes had the fourth fastest time in 43:57.

In the girls class b 1600 sprint medley relay, Burke was fourth in 4:19:56

In the boys class b 1600 sprint medley relay, Gregory finished third in 3:38:83. Jones County was fourth in 3:40:16.Kimball/White Lake was sixth in 3:43:52.

Jones County’s Asa Best was 7th in the boys class b long jump with a leap of 20-09.50

Gregory’s Regan Graesser finished eighth in the girls class b long jump with a leap of 16-02.75

State of Emergency Declared on Rosebud Sioux Tribe Reservation

Due to escalating threats posed by widespread methamphetamine and illicit drug use, trafficking, and related gun violence, President Kathleen Wooden Knife has officially declared a State of Emergency on the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Reservation.  This crisis poses immediate and severe risks to public safety, community health, and tribal welfare.

Immediate Actions Required:

  • Increased patrol and investigative support from federal agencies, including the U.S Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Interior, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
  • Full community cooperation and vigilance in reporting suspicious or criminal activities.
  • Tribal and federal coordination to urgently address law enforcement gaps and public health emergencies.
