At the State ‘B’ Amateur Baseball Tournament last night in Mitchell, Larchwood defeated Freeman in game one, 7-4. Irene won the nightcap over Mt. Vernon by a final score of 6-5. Irene will take on Larchwood in the quarterfinal round Thursday night at Cadwell Park after Winner/Colome plays Garretson. The Winner/Colome game will start at 5:30 and can be heard on 93.7FM as Doski will have the call.
The Mens Singles Open Golf Tournament took place at the Winner Country Club on Sunday. Winning the championship flight was Justin Ziegler as he shot a 105. Ryan Radant was second with a 114. The winner of the first flight was Eric Diehm as he shot a 121, three shots ahead of KWYR owner Scott Schramm. John Halverson won the second flight as he shot an 88, one shot ahead of Rusty Arthur.
The State B VFW Teener Baseball Tournament came to a close last night in Gregory as Parker beat Tyndall in the championship game, 9-0. The winning pitcher was Trey Christensen as he went six innings and allowed just two hits to go along with three strike outs. Chase Mason hit a three run homerun in the win for the state champions. The third place game was won by Garretson as they were victorious over Alexandria, 5-1. Lucas Fitzgerald was the winning pitcher. The Gregory teeners were crowned consolation champions Sunday afternoon as they beat Onida, 12-2. Aaron Sundquist picked up the win on the mound. Coy Determan led the offense for Gregory as he had four hits and Aaron had three. At the state b amateur baseball tournament in Mitchell Sunday, Winner/Colome broke out the bats in a big way as they beat the Vermillion Greysox, 21-8 in seven innings. Austin Calhoon, Austin Richey and Derek Graesser led the Pheasants offense as each of the three guys had four hits while Reed Harter had three and Dillon Lambley and Jared Donahue had two hits at the dish. Winner/Colome advances to play Garretson on Thursday. Garretson defeated Lake Norden Sunday, 8-5. Garretson beat the Pheasants in the quarterfinal round a season ago. At the state b junior legion tournament in Groton Sunday, Lennox won the state championship over Groton, 10-0. The third place game went to Redfield as they beat Warner, 10-8. Winner was crowned consolation champions as they took down Wessington Springs, 15-0. Cameron Meiners picked up the win on the mound.
The Wall that Heals, a Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica and mobile education center will be on display this week in Central South Dakota. You will be able to check it out Wednesday, August 9th through Sunday, August the 13th at the rest area off I-90 in Chamberlain. The display will be open to the public 24 hours a day. A round robin will happen on Wednesday August 9th at the Frontier Arena in Colome. Check in at 6:30 and roping will be at 7pm. They still need entries as they are taking up to 20 on each side. At the state b teener baseball tournament in Gregory Saturday, Onida beat Scotland in an elimination game by a final of 7-6 in nine innings. Gregory eliminated Kimball/White Lake in game two, 9-5. Game three last night was won by Tyndall as they beat Garretson, 6-1. The nightcap was won by Parker as they were able to hold off Alexandria, 3-2 in eight innings. At the state b amateur tournament in Mitchell on Saturday, Crofton took down Salem 2-0 on game one. The Dell Rapids Mudcats beat Dimock/Emery in game two, 4-2. Canton defeated Platte 3-0 in game three and Alexandria beat Flandreau, 8-1. At the state b junior legion tournament on Saturday, Winner beat Mission. Winner Regional held their annual golf tournament on Saturday. The winning team was Jeff Grossenburg, Tom Heying, Izak Nespor and Ronae Klein.

In game three, Alexandria defeated Kimball/White Lake, 10-6. The nightcap was won by Parker as they were able to hold off a late rally by Gregory, 10-7. At the State B Junior Legion Tournament Friday, Warner defeated Winner, 14-6 and Groton defeated Mission. Winner will play Mission at around 12:30 today in an elimination game. At the State B Amateur Tournament Friday at Cadwell Park, Irene beat Northville in game one, 13-5. Mt. Vernon was able to outscore Redfield for a 9-7 win. Harrisburg beat Parkston last night, 9-3 and Tabor won the nightcap over Beresford, 8-5.
They are back it at the Mid Dakota Fair in Winner at the Tripp County Fairgrounds today. From 11am-7pm you can checkout all the inflatables, ride the mechanical bull, do some paintballing and take a look at all the vendors. From 4-7 there will be buggy rides, from 5-7 there will be an appreciation picnic supper and pedal tractor pull along with stick horse races and Ag Olympics. At 7pm the corn on the cob contest will take place. Check it out!
