The Burke Cougars will look to go to 2-0 on the High School Football season when they play the Gayville-Volin Raiders in their home opener. The Cougars beat the Scotland Highlanders, 55-0 last week. The Raiders have had extra time to prepare for their first opponent of the season since they were idle last Friday. Burke will see very solid competition over these next three weeks as they host Gayville-Volin tomorrow, host Colome next Friday the 31st before traveling to Corsica/Stickney on September 7th.

Kimball/White Lake at Gregory

The 1-0 Gregory Gorilla Football team will battle the 0-1 Parkston Trojans Friday Night at Mike Dacy Field. Gregory is coming off a low scoring, 12-6 victory last week over Kimball/White Lake. The Trojans lost to a good Bon Homme team in week 0 on the road, 41-0. KWYR will be covering some big Gorilla road games later this year: Week 5 when they play in Tyndall, Week 7 they play in Wolsey and they then face off against Miller/Highmore-Harrold in Miller in Week 8.

The Jones County Sportsman Club in Murdo will be hosting the South Dakota Wildlife Federation’s 73rd annual State Meeting, August 24th through the 26th. Tickets for a Saturday night prime rib supper are available from local members. A fundraising auction will follow. For tickets, call Greg at 605-280-3705.
