Minors Tournament gets underway Friday in Gregory

The Minors Little League Baseball Tournament will get underway tomorrow in Gregory. Here are the day one pairings: 4pm at the Little League Field, Valentine will play Lyman. At 6pm, Gregory 1 will play Colome at the Little League Field while Winner Purple will take on Mission at 6 at Audis Field. At 8pm at the Little League Field, Burke will take on the winner of the Valentine-Lyman game. At 8pm at Audis Field, Clearfield will battle Winner Gold.

Scores from Wednesday

In Junior Teener Baseball last night, Wagner defeated Gregory, 3-0. In Teener Baseball, Wagner beat Gregory in nine innings, 2-1. The Kimball/White Lake Junior Teeners fell to Corsica/Stickney, 16-3. The Kimball/White Lake Teeners won a high scoring game against Corsica/Stickney by a final score of 12-11. In a Junior Legion doubleheader last night, Winner/Colome swept Bennett County, 11-9 and 16-4. A few makeup softball games took place on Wednesday, Platte/Geddes defeated Valentine, 19-4. The Gregory 14U team beat Bassett, 12-3. The Winner 14U team beat Gregory, 11-9. The Winner 12U girls beat Lyman, 15-9.

Golf Camp coming up in Burke

The Burke High School Golf program will be sponsoring a golf camp for kids in grades first through sixth July 17th through the 19th from 9am-Noon at the Burke Golf Course. The cost is twenty dollars per golfer and you must bring your own clubs. To pre-register call Deb at 830-2198 or Billie Jo at 830-0730.

Golf results from Saturday

Five golf tournaments took place in the area on Saturday. In Murdo, Mike and Nancy Beardt beat Tom and Amy Cameron in a playoff to win the co-ed tournament. In Presho, Patrick Donovan and John England shot a 3 under to win the two person, par three tournament. In Burke, the Platte men defeated Burke for the Battle of the Bridge by a half point in sudden death as Ross Van Zee and Randy Veurink brought home the trophy to Charles Mix County. The Frontier Motors Open was won by the team of Anthony Husher and John Halverson as the guys shot a 66 in the championship flight. Rich Crow Eagle and Justice Morrison won the Championship Flight at Saturday’s Memorial Tournament in Gregory.

In Little League Baseball on Friday, the Gregory 1 Majors beat Burke, 5-1. The Valentine Majors shutout Winner Gold, 15-0. In Major League Baseball, the Texas Rangers defeated the Minnesota Twins last night, 8-1.

 

Gregory fifth graders holding fundraiser at Buche Foods today

The Gregory Fifth Grade Boys Basketball team is holding a burger/brat fundraiser from 11-1 today at the Buche Foods parking lot. This is a fundraiser to help support the team as they will be playing in Minneapolis June 29th and 30th next weekend in the Great Five State Championships at the Target Center. They will be competing against teams from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
