Results from the weekend

THE JUNIOR TEENER FATHER’S DAY BASEBALL TOURNAMENT WAS WON BY WAGNER AT LEAHY BOWL ON SUNDAY AS THEY DEFATED GREGORY 4-3 IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. THE THIRD PLACE GAME WAS WON BY PLATTE AS THEY BEAT WINNER, 12-1. THE CONSOLATION CHAMPIONSHIP WENT TO HAMLIN AS THEY BEAT ONIDA, 18-1. IN GOLF, THE PRAIRIE HILLS GOLF COURSE IN MISSION HELD THEIR FATHER’S DAY TWO PERSON TOURNAMENT ON SATURDAY. WINNING THE TOURNAMENT WAS THE TEAM OF JOE AND MIKE PRUE.

Sunday schedule at Leahy Bowl

Mother nature cut things short at Saturday’s Father’s Day Junior Teener Tournament at Leahy Bowl in Winner. The Gregory vs Platte/Geddes game was made final after three innings with Gregory leading 9-1. Gregory marches on to today’s championship game. In the first game at 10am this morning, Winner will play Wagner in the semi-final round. At Noon, Onida will play Hamlin for the consolation championship followed by Platte/Geddes taking on the loser of game one today for third place. Gregory will play the winner of the Wagner-Winner game at around 4pm for the championship.

Legion Baseball was held at Cadwell Park in Mitchell on Friday as Mitchell defeated Winner/Colome in a doubleheader, 12-2 and 14-5. In Little League Baseball last night, the Mission Rookies beat Clearfield, 7-3. The Clearfield Minors were victorious over Mission, 14-4 and the Clearfield Majors won 13-5 against Mission. The Burke Minors defeated Valentine 10-6 and the Burke Majors won 9-2 against Valentine. The Colome Minors picked up a 7-3 victory over Gregory. The Gregory 1 Rookies beat Colome, 6-0. The Gregory 2 Majors beat Winner Gold, 11-0. The Winner Gold Rookies beat Gregory 2, 2-1. In Teener Baseball last night, Gregory beat Hamlin, 6-2.

In amateur baseball last night, the Winner/Colome Pheasants defeated Wagner, 16-6. 4 Corners beat Kimball/White Lake, 16-3. The Chamberlain Mallards were able to hold off the South Central Storm, 4-3. In ten innings, the Alexandria Angels defeated the Platte Killer Tomatoes, 6-5. In Junior Teener Baseball, Colome beat Tripp, 10-8. Winner beat Mission 10-4 and Gregory beat Valentine, 17-2. In junior legion baseball, Winner beat Hamlin, 8-4.

In girls softball last night a good number of games were rained out, but some teams were able to play. The Gregory 14U team defeated Chamberlain, 14-0. The Colome 12U girls beat Valentine, 8-6. In Major League Baseball last night, the Detroit Tigers were able to defeat the Minnesota Twins by a final score of 5-2.

First amateur baseball poll is out!

The first South Dakota Amateur Baseball polls are out for the season! In Class A, the Renner Monarchs are atop that poll while the Sioux Falls Brewers are second and the Brookings Cubs are third. In Class B, the Alexandria Angels are ranked first, Winner/Colome is second while the Larchwood Diamonds are third. The Pheasants no-hit Alexandria at Leahy Bowl last week.
