The City of Winner will hold their City Council meeting tomorrow night (Monday, May 2nd) at the Winner City Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m. Following the meeting there will be a town hall meeting open to the public at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Rain reports called in Saturday morning
Some badly needed rain arrived this weekend in Central South Dakota and North Central Nebraska. The Swedlund’s reported 3.80 inches of rain, 5 miles north of Witten. 2.5 inches of rain was reported south of Dallas. 3.5 inches of rain was called in by Vivian Sweeney, 16 miles northwest of Bassett. John Driscoll reported 3 inches over by the Winner City Park. Pete Haukaas , who lives southeast of Okreek, reported 1.64 inches. We had a report of just under four inches just north of Mills. Short Haley reported 3.35 inches just outside of Colome. Dennis Hanson at Carlock said he received 2.3 inches Saturday morning. Delbert Klein, 4 miles east of Burke, said he received 3.5 inches. Fred Weidner at Dog Ear Lake said he received 2.5 inches. Laura Reuer in Herrick received 3 inches. Judd Houston received 2.55 inches 10 miles northwest of Kennebec. John Vosika, southeast of Gregory, received 4 inches. The Watzel’s on Beaulieu Road reported 3.85 inches. Darnell Swanson, a mile east of Clearfield, reported 4.40 inches. The Don Bachmann residence, 3 miles north of Winner, received 4 inches of rain. Brian Hofeldt reported 3.5 inches of rain in Milboro. Elaine Larson reported 2.5 inches up on the hill by the Dairy Queen in Chamberlain Saturday morning.
Winner Regional Health Employee CPR Class on May 7th
Winner Regional Health will host a CPR Heart Saver Course on Wednesday, May 7th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Winner Regional Health Conference Room. The cost is $25 for each participant and one must pre-register by calling Brandi Grage at 842-7150.
Winner Regional Health Fair in June
Winner Regional Health will hold their annual health fair at the Hospital on Friday, June 10th. The health fair will be a great opportunity for community businesses to collaborate and increase awareness of services. Winner High School to Hold Prom this Saturday
Winner High School will hold their prom this Saturday Night (April 30th) at the Winner National Guard Armory. Grand March will start at 6:30 p.m. This year’s theme will be “Midnight Moonlight” with gold, black, and silver color decorations.
Winner City Cleanup Begins Today
The City of Winner will hold their clean up starting at 8:00 a.m. this morning. . All items must be placed in the alley or curbside by 8:00 a.m. this morning or the item will not be removed. Any household garbage will be left for Heartland Waste.
Winner Chicken Dinner Soft Open Today
The new restaurant in Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner, has their soft open today. They will open at 11am and close around 7pm. Normal hours start Monday 11 am to 9 pm and they will be open 7 days a week. Their menu can be found at www.winnerchickendinner.us. Some of the menu items include broasted chicken , chicken tenders, potato wedges, beer-battered potato side winders, brown sugar baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese.
Multiple Fires in North Central Nebraska Yesterday
On Friday, the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire located just north of Rose, Nebraska. During their travel to the fire, another large grass fire south of Rose was reported. This led the Firefighters to respond to both calls simultaneously.
Finally, a third fire was noticed by fire crews with trees burning in a tree grove in the area.
All three fires were started by a lightning storm that passed through the area.
