A pancake and sausage brunch, along with biscuits and gravy is taking place from 9am to 1pm today at the Reliance Legion Hall. It’s all for a free will offering. The event is being sponsored by American Legion Post # 179. Get your Sunday started in the right direction with a delicious breakfast!

Cherry Todd Electric to hold annual meeting on September 9th
Cherry Todd Electric Co-Op will hold their 74th annual meeting on Saturday, September 9th from 10am to 12 noon at the Valentine High School Parking Lot. This will be a drive thru meeting. All Cherry Todd Electric co-op members are encouraged to attend this annual meeting.
Summer Nights in Colome tonight
The final Summer Nights of the season will take place tonight on Main Street in Colome! The Kenaston Family Band will perform at the event. The event is being sponsored by the Frontier Bar and Dougherty Cattle Company. There is no cost to attend and plenty of games will be taking place!
Colome Cowboy Fair Fun Run and Walk coming up August 26th
The 1st Annual Colome Cowboy Fair Fun Run & Walk will be on Saturday, August 26th in Colome. There will be a 1 mile walk and a 2 mile run with an entry fee of $10.00 per participant. All proceeds will go to the Colome Vets Hall to make necessary repairs and updates. Registration opens at 7AM and the race will begin at 8AM. The race will start and end at the Colome Vets Hall. Registration forms are available at First Fidelity Bank and the City Finance Office in Colome. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. Call or text (605 840-0853 for more information.
Burke Area Farmers Market returns tomorrow
The Burke Area Farmers Market returns tomorrow from 5:30-7pm at the Burke City Park. There will be some terrific vendors setup, along with live music and door prizes up for grabs! There will also be a Photo Booth to take selfies! Stop by and see for yourself what all the great chatter is about!
Performance to happen in Chamberlain tomorrow
The life and music of Hank Williams will be presented by Pegie Douglas at the Cozard Memorial Library in Chamberlain on Wednesday, August 9th starting at 5:30pm. This will be a musical performance that narrates the life of Hank Williams Sr.

Orientation set for next week in Winner
Winner Schools will be having high school orientation and computer checkout for students entering grades 9-12. It will be held at the armory at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 8th. Each student must have a parent/guardian accompany them to complete the required paperwork. Following this meeting students will turn in the required paperwork and be allowed to pick up their computer to take home. Each student will need to verify insurance coverage or purchase the school insurance coverage for $50 prior to taking their computer home. Students who are unable to attend the orientation may attend an alternate orientation on Wednesday, August 16th at 9:00 AM In room 100 of the HS.
The middle school orientation for students entering grades 6-8 will be held at the armory at 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 10th.
Students will receive their schedules and other information during these orientation meetings. After the orientation meeting in the armory students and parents will be able to visit their classrooms and check out their lockers.
The Winner Elementary school will host their meet the teacher night on Tuesday, August 15th from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Winner Elementary School.
