Girls Golf
At the Parkston Invite in Mitchell on Friday, Chamberlain’s Trey Speer was the medalist shooting a 78. Natalie Nelson of Chamberlain tied for second shooting an 88. Gracie Root of Winner Area with fourth with an 89. Jayde McQuirk of Chamberlain was fifth with a 92. Winner Area’s Payton Sargent was 9th with a 96, while Reese Halligan and Claire Pravecek for Winner Area tied for 10th shooting a 99. Chamberlain won the team title with 364 points, Mitchell’s JV team was second with a 371, while Winner Area was third with a 381.

At the Burke Girls Golf Tournament on Friday, Bella Guthrie of Ethan was the medalist shooting an 86. Mallory Gant of Platte/Geddes was runner up with an 86. Leah Schuman of Platte/Geddes was fourth with a 91 while Paige Beckers of Burke was fifth with a 96. Platte/Geddes won the team title, while Burke was fourth.

At the Gregory Boys Golf Tournament, Bryson One Star of White River was the medalist shooting a 75. Brody Indahl of Burke was runner up shooting a 76. Maddux Van Zee of Platte/Geddes was fourth with a 79. Bon Homme won the boys team title with 239 points, while Platte/Geddes was runner up with 243 points, and Burke was third with 250 points.

At the Greenway Relays in Mount Vernon, Lincoln Kranig of Kimball/White Lake won the boys 100 in 11.33. Breckynn Pistulka of Burke won the girls 200 in 26.97. Isaac Shepherd of Chamberlain won the boys 400 in 51.90. Grace Phillips of Chamberlain won the girls 800 in 2:20:42. Amelia LaPointe of Chamberlain won the girls two mile in 13:12:14. Darron Moeller of Kimball/White Lake won the boys 2 mile in 10:40:01. Kimball/White Lake won the boys 4 x 1 relay in 45:02. Kimball/White Lake also won the boys 4 x 4 relay in 3:36:79.

At the West Holt Invite, Dominic Beebout of Valentine won the boys 100 in 11:12. Jekhi Williams of Valentine won the boys 200 in 23:03. Clarrah Beebout of Valentine won the girls 400 in 1:03:10. Regan Moody of Ainsworth won the girls 800 in 2:29:77. Moody also won the girls 2 mile in 12:02:92. Trey Anthony of North Central won the boys 110 hurdles in 15:22. North Central won the boys 4 x 8 relay in 8:53:53. Karlene Kepler of North Central won the girls shot put with a throw of 44 2.75. Kepler also won the girls discus with a throw of 136’7.Valentine’s Lane Shelbourn won the boys high jump with a leap of 5’8. Dominic Beebout of Valentine won the boys long jump with a leap of 20′ 10.25.Noah Seberger of North Central won the boys triple jump with a meet best, 45′ 7.25. Ireland Buell of North Central won the girls triple jump with a leap of 32′ 11.5

NFL Draft
During night two of the NFL Draft, the Vikings traded former pro bowl linebacker Jonathan Greenard to the Eagles in exchange for a third round pick, and a third round pick in 2027.Minnesota last night drafted Linebacker Jake Golday, Defensive Tackle Domonique Orange, Tackle Caleb Tiernan and Safety Jakobe Thomas.

Boys Golf

At the O’Neill Invite, James Eby of O’Neill was the medalist shooting a 74. Tanner Two Strike and Caden Stankoski each shot an 83 for Valentine. North Central’s Keian Fischer shot an 80. Jaxon Rucker, Bear Rea and Robert Rudnick each shot 92’s for Ainsworth. O’Neill won the team title, Valentine was fifth, North Central seventh and Ainsworth was ninth.

 

Track and Field

At the Pierre Legion Relays, Lyman’s Brooke Montgomery finished runner up in the girls 100. Chloe Collins of Lyman was third in the girls 300 hurdles. Cole Keiffer of Lyman finished runner up in the boys 110 hurdles.

NFL Draft

With the 18th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft last night, the Vikings selected Florida Defensive Tackle, Caleb Banks. The Vikings tonight will have pick number 49 in the second round, before they make two selections in the third round at picks 82 and 97.

Several fires reported in South Dakota and Nebraska on Wednesday

There were several fires in South Dakota and Nebraska last night, and into the overnight, including two large grass fires. One of those fires was northeast of Reliance, and the other east of Alexandria. The Reliance, Chamberlain, Lyman, Kennebec and Presho Fire Departments were paged out last night to the fire northeast of Reliance. There were also wildfires reported in Bon Homme County. Last evening, there were also severe thunderstorms for Stanley and Jones Counties. Multiple fires also broke out across Nebraska. A wildfire was reported burning across parts of Grant, Hooker and Cherry Counties, that saw an evacuation order for Whitman and the surrounding area. Multiple fire departments also responded, and were on the scene at two grassfires in northeast Nebraska. One fire was reported in Hubbard, that began shortly after 4pm. Authorities shut down Highway 11, south of Atkinson. A fire was located eight miles south of Atkinson on Wednesday evening. We will continue to update you on any further updates as they become available.
