North Central set to battle Burwell tonight

Playoff Football continues in Nebraska tonight as the North Central Knights will hit the road and battle unbeaten Burwell. Burwell’s quarterback, Sage Konicek has thrown for over 1,000 yards on the season and running back, Jase Williams, has ran for over 1,000 yards to lead their offense. North Central quarterback, Jake Heerten, has thrown for 2,095 yards to lead the Knight offensive aerial attack while Charlie Gale has led North Central in the running department rushing for 725 yards on the year. Gametime tonight is 6pm.

Cowboys-Chargers ready for 9B showdown

The 9B State Championship Game features two unbeaten teams who have dominated the opposition all season long- The Colome Cowboys and the Sully Buttes Chargers. Both teams enter Friday morning’s contest at the Dakota Dome with perfect records. Ben Connot’s Cowboys have been tough to stop as they are averaging over 330 rushing yards a game this season. Senior Jackson Kinzer has thrown for over 1,000 yards for Colome and he has ran for 1,266 yards this season. Jackson along with Riley Shippy and Chase Dufek are each averaging over ten yards per rushing attempt on the season. The Cowboys won their semifinal game over Wall last week, 74-28. The Chargers, like Colome, have enjoyed home field advantage throughout each round of the playoffs. They beat Hitchcock-Tulare in round one, 46-8. In the quarterfinals, the Chargers dominated Kadoka, 52-0 before they beat Faulkton in the semis, 48-14. Chris Doski will talk to both head coaches on tomorrow’s pre-game show starting at 9:10am on Magic 93.

Pep Rally in Colome at 2:55 today!

A reminder that a community wide pep rally will take place at the Colome Gymnasium today for the Colome Cowboy football team as they get ready to head to Vermillion to play the Sully Buttes Chargers on Friday for the 9B Championship! The pep rally will start at 2:55. On Sunday night, there will be a welcome home celebration for the boys beginning at 7:30pm at the Colome Gym. Good luck tomorrow boys!

Cavaliers to clash with the Wildkats in Vermillion on Thursday

The 9AA State Football Championship game figures to be quite the clash as Kimball/White Lake battles the Bon Homme Cavaliers. The two teams met way back in early September as the Cavaliers came away with a 25-7 victory. Dale Taylor’s Wildkats have been dominant on the road all postseason. In the first round, they beat Jones County/White River, 48-6. In the quarterfinals, Kimball/White Lake took down Arlington/Lake Preston 29-0, before beating Garretson on the road last Friday, 42-14. It’s been all about defense for Bon Homme in the playoffs. In the first round, Bon Homme was able to shutdown Deuel, 50-12. In the quarterfinals, the Cavaliers were able to get past Gregory, 14-12 before they handled Wolsey-Wessington on the road, 43-14. Kickoff time for Thursday is 1pm at the Dakota Dome!
