Cross Country and Volleyball from Thursday

In Cross Country on Thursday in Parkston, the Winner Area girls and the Ethan/Parkston boys won the team titles. Mitchell Christian’s Alec Nelson won the boys race while Kade Watson of Winner Area was runner up. Sidda Schuyler of Winner Area won the girls race in a time of 18:57.

Warbirds set to battle the Gorillas on Friday

The top ranked Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds (7-0) will host the third ranked Gregory Gorillas Friday night in Wolsey- Brian Allmendinger’s Gorillas (5-1) have allowed only thirteen combined points over their last three games. The undefeated Warbirds have put up huge offensive numbers this season. Lynden Williams and Devante Luellman have each rushed for over 1100 yards this year. Wolsey-Wessington’s only close game of the season came in week one, when they beat Bon Homme, 38-36. Pre-game coverage on Magic 93 will start at around 6:25.

Sports Zone and Husker Huddle return today

Chris Doski will be talking all things sports today as he returns with ‘Husker Huddle’ and the ‘Sports Zone’! Chris will be joined in studio by Casey Hutmacher of Oacoma at 1:45 on Magic 93 as the guys make their predictions for all of the NFL games for this week. On Country 1260 at 3:45, Chris and a local Husker Football fan will preview this weekend’s game in Wisconsin. The program will re-air in its entirety at 7:10 tonight on Magic 93.

Jags ready to host Colome this week

The Colome Cowboys face one of their biggest tests of the season this Friday in High School Football when the 6-0 Cowboys hit the road to play Corsica/Stickney. The Jaguars (3-3) beat Centerville last week, 59-6. Corsica/Stickney has losses to Alcester-Hudson (26-14), Burke (26-22) and to TDA/AC/DC (26-6).  The Cowboys were able to handle Scotland on the road last week, 52-0. Ben Connot’s team is averaging over 300 rushing yards per game this season and five guys are averaging more than ten yards per carry. Corsica/Stickney beat Colome on a wet night last season in Colome, 22-6.

State Golf results

The State ‘A’ Boys Golf Tournament wrapped up yesterday in Dell Rapids as Brock Murphy of Tea Area won the tournament by shooting a 152, two shots ahead of Nate Nielsen of Sisseton. Chamberlain’s Cameron Caldwell finished fifth overall as he shot a 162. Todd County’s Bryce Hammer finished the tournament with a 185 two day score while Gage Watson of Winner Area carded a 195. Tea Area won the team title by thirteen strokes over Sissteon while Chamberlain finished 11th as a team.
